IMAP and Outlook

Does anyone use imap with outlook?

It is ridiculously slow. I deal with a lot of big attachments (5 to 10mb) and when I click on one of those emails I literally have to wait a solid minute for the email to even be viewed.

Any ideas on ways around this? Would Outlook using Exchange be the appropriate solution?

I work on multiple systems so imap is important, can't use POP

I just started using Outlook with IMAP for a couple of my accounts, and haven't had any issues--but I'm not dealing with those size attachments.

I believe I am using 2010.
