If i remember correctly you simply have to wait a bit. Something will open up automatically after time.

Yeah I just waited around for about 5 min in that room wondering what to do, then 2 vents opened up with an airstream flowing between them I just floated myself unto the airstream.

I wish those rooms had some sort of orientation alignment method, its annoying when you don't know which way is up. Typically, most games in such a scenario keep the vertical lock on the mouse which you typically have (ie you can't point your mouse up more than 90 degrees from the horizon) but for some reason Crytek decided to allow full free mouse movement along all axes in that section, making it more disorienting than it needed to be.
