Any TV show, movie, book, or music album, what would you pick and why?

My choice would be a book, which is actually a tetraology called The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe.

http://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Claw-F...0176/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311150824&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Sword-Citadel-Second-Half-Book/dp/0312890184/ref=pd_sim_b_1

It would be beyond epic playing as Severian and starting out as a lowly apprentice torturer in the Torturer's Guild and then going to the part to where I am cast out of the guild for the crime of mercy by showing mercy to a woman who was scheduled to be tortured and executed.

I would prefer this to be a true role playing game in the vein of an Elder Scrolls title, with a really good graphics engine to do justice to the environments depicted in this game, and it would really fit the whole sci-fi/fantasy motif. Bethseda did an excellent job with Fallout 3, best I can say is this game would be a mixture of Oblivion and Fallout 3.

The game would be awesome as I travel through exotic locales of Urth with her as my companion as I meet other companions and have adventures on Urth culminating in meeting the Autarch and gaining Terminus Est, the sword that means The End in Latin.

It's kind of like a sci-fi/fantasy mixture, but a good one, and the story would be really epic and worth playing through, it would likely be just one game to follow all 4 of those books to make sure there's enough material to cover in a game and give gamers a good long adventure to play through.

If there would be a sequel, it would have to be based on the Book of the Long Sun and the Book of the Short Sun, and each would be their own adventure, so I suppose a trilogy is possible.

I just wish some developer or company would see the potential here.

How about you guys, what's your choice? Don't forget to list the reasons why you pick it.

Would love to see The Dragonriders of Pern made into a game. Even better a TV series.

There are 22 Dragonriders of Pern novels and two collections of short stories through June 2011.

Life on Pern - as presented in the novels resembles a pre-industrial society with lords, holds, harpers (musicians, entertainers, and teachers), and dragons, with the occasional examples of higher technology (like flamethrowers, telegraphi, chemical fertilizers, and powerful microscopes and telescopes).
Pernese people are described as belonging to four basic groups: Weyrfolk (including Dragonriders) who live in the Weyrs, the Holders who live in the Holds (cities, towns and farms), the crafters who live in Crafthalls (or are assigned to work their crafts in certain Holds), and the Holdless who have no permanent home (including traders, displaced Holders, and brigands).
One of the main threats to Pernese civilization in the series is Thread, which is described as a Mycorrhizoid spore. Thread is described in this series as an agent that consumes organic material at a voracious rate, including crops, animals, and any humans in its path.
The Pernese use intelligent firebreathing dragons and their riders to fight Thread. The riders have a telepathic bond with their dragons, formed by Impression at the dragon's hatching. Later books deal with the initial colonization of Pern and the creation of the dragons through genetic manipulation. The lengthy (over two millennia) time period covered by the series as a whole allows room for new stories and characters, explored by each new novel released by the authors.

I would make a game based on the popular TV show Lost. Then I'd give it away for free, that way everyone has Lost The Game.

Id like to see this as a game. Seriously this movie is retardedly good. Its a really good story similar to "Cell" by Stephen King

The Signal (2007)

There's no leaving Terminus

As glasses are raised for a New Year's Eve toast, the denizens of the city of Terminus fall prey to a mysterious transmission that pulses through all electronic devices and transforms rational, sane people into murderous, rampaging psychopaths. All forms of communication have been jammed, and now the airwaves have been saturated with an ominous signal that preys on fear and deep-rooted desire. Though Terminus was once a city defined by conformity, any semblance of order in this concrete jungle has now been replaced with screaming, bloody chaos. Fortunately, Ben has managed to avoid having his brain scrambled by the signal, and now he's determined to make his way through the bedlam that's sweeping the streets and rescue the woman he loves.

Married with Children.

You play as Al Bundy and your sole purpose in the game would be to become the leader of the "NO MA'AM" Movement and expand your ideals. You would also work in the shoe store and harass overweight women and hit on the hot ones hang out at the nudy bar and do various other things Al Bundy does. :D

I would also include a Psycho Dad Mini game.

Wheel of Time series based RPG.

Fahrenheit 451 FPS - hurry and burn those books before the proles get out of hand! (similarly: 1984 RTS).

I think someone could make a total remake of Fallout 3 as The Stand and it could be awesome.

The Bourne series or any Ludlum style novel could be a decent basis for an FPS.

Maybe something based on the Warcraft world... Those were good books.

;)

Darkwar Saga. Good interdimenional tension with the introduction of an interesting race: Dasati. The multiple settings would make for a unique landscape. It would obviously need to take some influence from Betrayal at Krondor, with proper RPG stats and spells.

Other choice - Night Watch/Day Watch/Twilight Watch/Final Watch

It would need to be done similar to a mix of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines and Metro 2033. RPG FPS with heavy focus on atmosphere and story.

They were developing one, but it got cancelled -

Some shows I've seen recently that might be cool as games:

Fringe
Dexter
Arrested Development

ok, maybe not the last one, not sure how that would work :)

Greatest American Hero.

Having super powers that don't really work all that well/all the time could be fun.

I'd make a game based off of the movie Doom which was based off of the game Doom.

I'd go deeper. Doomception.

I want to say Red Dawn, but we have Homefront. I want to say Game of Thrones but we have Witcher 2. So um .. how about ...

Goonies!

I would make an RPG based on Larry Nivens' Known Universe series of books.
these are a collection of short stories and a few novels, like Ringworld, A World Out of Time, and a few others. If you haven't heard of him, go the library and borrow a few of his books and give them a read.
He writes hard science fiction.

The third person game wasn't awful, wasn't great either. It did a great job of capturing the feel of the movies. Gameplay was just meh though.

How about The Walking Dead. That would be good. I got to watch a few minutes of that Falling Sky (Skies?) show where aliens invade. That could be decent.

I agree with WoT series based RPG in the vein of Neverwinter Nights would be really cool, with modern graphics of course. And they kind of did 1984 with Bioshock.

Cowboy Bebop

Very cool, one of the best animes of all time, how about Trigun as well??

I support anything that's remotely similiar to Vampire the Masquerade, they had some hit and miss games in that series, but for the most part, they were very good.

If you like Larry Niven, you will like Gene Wolfe and his books. I have not read Larry Niven, but I see him constantly mentioned in "Best of Sci Fi/Fantasy lists quite frequently."

If you google top 100 sci-fi/fantasy books, you'll get a couple of great links with interesting results, you'll see him mentioned, Gene Wolfe, Ursula LeGuin, Phillip K. Dick (A Scanner Darkly), David Eddings, and a bunch of others, like Robert Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke and Asimov.

Here is one such link!

The two movie adaptations, Night Watch and Day Watch, were pretty good too. Give em a watch if you don't plan on reading the books.

An Oblivion/FO3 style FPS/RPG set in the Firefly universe.

The first DLC could be called "The Early Days Of Jane", or "Brown Coat Blues", or some such.

An MMO would be interesting as well. Even though I know I would never play it. I just never could get into MMO games.

I wish someone had the balls to make a REAL game about the Bible.

The downfall of Satan, specifically.
Where you are Lucifer/Satan.

Most of the game you tempt/attempt to kill(you have minions too (Fallen angels/demons, etc)) the prophets and people of God, starting from the very beginning; The Revolt/War in Heaven(sway angels/kill angels), get kicked out by God, go through the whole Adam and Eve/fuck humanity thing, Noah, Moses, Baby Jesus, Modern times(be/shapeshift into the Pope!, make countries bomb each other, spread/recruit communism/ists, etc, all with your own army of evil demons and whatnot) and at the end, freakin Armageddon. The 4 horsemen, epic battle, the whole shebang. I mean, done right, that could be the most awesome final level/final battle ever! (countless battles you cant "win")

Then at the end you fucking die.
After Armageddon, God sends down hellfire and brimstone, your minions(evil people/angels/orcs/demons, whatever) perish and have the mountains fall on them, and you are chained to a bottomless pit for 1000 years. God saves humanity, yay!

I imagine it wouldn't sell much, and probably be banned in America, but I think that would make an awesome video game.

I would say being good/angel could be another scenario, but since games are all about violence and destroying shit, Satan is the main character and would make a better game. Theres just no way to "win". I mean the game ends. Theres an ending. God whoops your ass for eternity. Epic.

Would be an awesome RPG if done right. Too intense?
something is going to happen to me for posting this.....

There have been at least a couple of RingWorld graphical adventure games made for the PC in the 90s, which I played as a child.

I'd like to see a new Swat Kats game made. :D

I'd be in for a Star Wars MMO in SPACE, imagine Eve Online set in that universe... Without the blob incentive, though. Say.. Thousands and thousands of systems, real travel time, distance and hyperspace travel actually takes time to use, etc.

I would love to see a game (a good one BTW) based on the Old Man's War series. Or even just the first book in that series, Old Man's War.

A game based on the Starfire series would be pretty cool as well. Eve Online is the closest so far to that series but not quite.

I bought the Ringworld game a looooooong time ago but I never got around to playing it. it's sitting in one of my CD cases.
