Forums are great but also hell, I have spent months researching what monitor to hook up to the two titans I am about to install in my system (life has smiled upon me recently) but it seems when I decide "thats the one..." I find a thread that says its great except for the (bleed, flicker, dead pixel etc etc) so then the doubts creep in...probably help if I new what I was talking about to the same level some of you guys are operating at...

So I ask, what would you hook up two SLI Titan X's to in an ideal world,

Obviously it would be helpful to mention monitors that actually exist at present and not the mythical monitor we are all dreaming about that they wont/cant make atm ;)

That is personal preference... 4k medium or large screen, a fast 27" 144hz.. above all try to buy from a local shop where you can check the monitor or quickly replace it if it has any defects.

I would sell them and buy two over clocked 980Tis then use the extra money to buy a 48" Samsung 4K TV

I bought this

Curved TVs are nothing but hype. The tv in my sig is also really nice for a 4k setup and costs close to half that cost. I love my Vizo 4k TV has to be one of the best TVs I have owned. It cost me 1,500 when I got it and now you can get the same one for around 1k to 1,200.

Curved TVs are nothing but hype.

Not really, the added value of the curve depends of seating distance and tv size.

In my basement, while a 90" curved HDTV would make sense, a curve on a 55' one would be distracting.
I can attest that the curve on my 34" 21:9 PC ultra-wide monitor contributes in making a more immersive gaming and movie watching experience.

I have mine hooked up to a Acer XB270HU. The 1440p is still a nice resolution and 144hz with GSync is just incredible.

Ok I may have been out of the loop for a few years but seriously you guys would hook them up to a TV?? Maybe I am too old school but I thought that on the one hand yes you get a mass of real estate for content creation type activities but issues would start to arise if you strayed into high end gaming. Are the 4k TV's as good as a specialised or rather dedicated computer monitors now a days?

TVs have horrible uniformity compared to monitors due to their size and limited LED backlights. The only 4K TVs I would use are fully LED backlit or OLED ones, otherwise I'd rather get a 32" 4K IPS monitor. And the problem is size. The smallest 4K OLED you can get is 55" so now we are talking about not a desktop setup but a possible hybrid living room setup. At that point a 55" is now too small so now what, you are going to go 65"? That's now a $7000-8000 TV you are looking at.

I use mine with a 4k samsung 28" monitor or a 24" 144hz monitor depending on what I'm doing.

I thought the exact same thing until I read this thread

The PPI at 4K is so small on a small monitor you want at least 40" at 4K and at this time those 40" 4K monitor panels are not as good as the ones in TVs

I have the Acer 28 inch 4K G-sync and I run two Titan Xs. It's a gaming only monitor and I highly recommend it. If you want something for movies or text get something larger as an accessory. If your in for a penny you might as well be in for a pound. But for input lag and g-sync, 4K looks great. I think the colors are fine, just the viewing angle isn't great. It's not an IPS but you get higher input lag with IPS. I've been playing the Witcher 3 @ 4K maxed out with Hairworks on and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. G-sync keeps everything nice and smooth.

I've had the most beautiful IPS monitor in the Dell U3011. The colors were unbelievable. I'd still take the Acer over it. Don't listen the IPS blah blah blah crew. Once you see how smooth g-sync and low input lag improves your SLI experience, you're going to forget all that 4:4:4 kodacrome IPS non-sense and just game.;)

I run 2 x TiX with BenQ 32"@4K, I selected BenQ after detailed research all aspects (size, colors, settings, price, comparison with others) and after several months of using it I can tell the result is 10/10. I found additional bonus in the form of no-glare.

144 Hz 1440p gets my vote. 4K is neat and all, but it's just not at the point of offering high refresh rates with cost effectiveness... and not enough GPU power out there to take advantage of it like high refresh 1080p-1440p.

ideally 3440X1440 144hz gsnyc. doesn't exist yet.

4k 40+ 100+hz gysnc in the future if GPU power exceeds gaming graphic demand but the inherent issue with 4k gaming is that game graphics continue to advance and new games continue to utilize more GPU power so until GPU power exceeds graphic development 4k will always struggle to get to high refresh rates.

I had Titan X SLI until I sold one card last week.

I ran mine to a ROG Swift 98% of the time. I do have the 28'' Samsung 4k monitor, but I am not really fond of it tbh. I'd say at least a 27'' 2560x1440 panel or a large 4k TV/monitor.

I don't know how relevant my opinion is, but I just got my second Titan X and I'm going to grab one of these in the to put front-and-centre, and two of these to flank it on the sides.

I'm going to be 75% game art design, 15% web browsing and 10% gaming. So I want a ton of cohesive desktop real-estate.

Same one I just bought. I love it. The curve is awesome for monitor usage. TV usage? I don't see it being a plus.

Definitely tossing my vote in for a ROG swift setup. I've got 4 running on my setup and I don't have any issues with the monitors etc. at all (granted I've only owned this setup for about 2-3 months now, but no problems for the time being).

I'd hook it up to a Nokia 445Pro and play at 2560x1920@120Hz or 3840x2880@85Hz. There's no reason to use a LCD with cards that powerful.

rabid is the local CRT proselytizer

And he can apparently make a 20-year old CRT pump out 4K@85Hz on a VGA CABLE... AMAZING. Once 8K monitors come out, I'm guessing he will claim his 30 year old CRT could do 8K@75Hz all along...

There aren't enough facepalm gifs...

I didn't spring for the 4k. My 21:9 3440x1440 is perfect for gaming IMO.

Whatever you pair it with, it better accept a DP input. From what I've read the Titan X doesn't support UHD@60hz with 4:4:4 chroma via HDMI.

Really? I thought I read somewhere that this had been cleared up and that the HDMI ports are 2.0 ports and 4:4:4 worked. I dunno. At some point I may try it.

If they changed it, then you're probably right. I'm not tracking it, but I remember when I looked into this in the April/May timeframe that's what I read, so I passed on the Titan X.

I have been rocking 2 Titans for awhile and I have them hooked up to three of these. But if I were to do it over again, I would probably get three of these.

I've done up to 2560x1920 at 120Hz over VGA. 2048x1536 @ 144Hz is my desktop res and I use 2560x1920 @ 120Hz for games like CiV. I use 1280x960 @ 240 for FPS games like CoD. I don't have a RAMDAC strong enough to drive 3840x2880@85Hz, but the monitor is theoretically capable of it. Or at least 80Hz, as I don't know the exact number of blanks I'd need for such a high resolution..

I'm sure your CRT theoretically is capable of doing 12k at 500Hz, and can support 64bit colour, as well as make coffee.

Because as soon as LCDs are released that have these features, all of the old CRTs magically become capable of matching them!

Is this a hypothetical on what I would do if I had Titan X sli? I'm currently running 780 SLI. Supposing said hypothetical scenario:

If there were any good 4k projectors out that didn't cost about 4 times as much as an enthusiast PC, I would hook that setup to one of those. 150 inches of relatively fast (projectors are actually pretty good pixel transition times) 4k imagery on my wall would certainly make me a happy person. If I could digitally play some tricks on the image geometry, I could even curve it. =P

But I would settle for my RoG Swift until that moment came about.

Last I checked, projectors have a HUGE response time, in the order of 50-150ms. It's one of the main reasons I chose to give up the idea.

CRTs have infinite color depth. My monitor cannot go past 350 vertical, 125K horizontal. 3840x2880@ 80-85 is within all those limits with interlacing on. Again, I usually run 2560x1920 @120Hz and 2048x1536 @ 144 as my main modes.

I'm using the W1070 at the moment. According to this, it has an input delay of 24ms (which is what I think you're talking about when you say "response time"):
http://www.projectorcentral.com/benq_w1500_vs_benq_w1070_shootout.htm
This review says 20ms average:
http://www.projectorreviews.com/the-art-of-gaming/review-benq-w1070/
So it is better than the range you gave. There are actually faster projectors, too, but they sacrifice image quality and such.

I know some people are crazy about input delay. I'm not sure what my sensitivity is as I don't actually game much on my BenQ at the moment aside from console games. I don't play many of those at the moment aside from my Vita, but that's usually on my handheld (although I do have a Playstation TV, and seeing a Vita game go from being on like a 4 inch screen to being on a 150 inch screen is uh... it's something you'd have to see). I mostly just watch anime on my projector currently. I really need to get a good wireless keyboard and stuff so I can really try out gaming on my current W1070, but I just don't see the point when I have an RoG Swift at 1440p sitting there. If it was 4k then... yeah. I'd be all over that.
