IC7-G MaxII Advanced Microphone problem

ok, i am using the onboard sound on the board. I play Call of Duty and use Ventrilo for voice communication.

When i'm out of game, mic works fine, but when i go into the game, and try to talk, i sound like a loud humming noise.

I have Windows xp professional, SP1.

any ideas why this is happening? anyway to fix it?

if this info helps:

i'm using the drivers directly off the Abit CD that comes w/ the mobo.

should i download that driver in the link? i think its a newer driver.
