any suggestions? i want my computer to look nice and neat. i have two harddrives, a DVd rom drive, floppy drive, and mobo. how many would i need?

You could always bring your old cables with you and compare them to the new ones -- but from what I've seen (and I'm a newbie) they basically seem to come in two sizes -- normal and short. You probably want the regular sized ones.

No, they shouldn't affect that, unless the cable is a total lemon... but I'd say any new cable you buy would be fine. Just make sure if it's an IDE drive you buy an IDE cable, buy a floppy for a floppy, etc.

dont get a cable longer than 18", u will lose some quality after that.
it may look better to just buy ribbon cables and fold/hide them.

If you will go to www.svc.com you can get rounded cables in nearly any color and they are only $2.50 each. You will pay a pretty penny for them at Newegg. Alot of the peeps here are Hard use the SVC cables including myself. Its best not to buy anything longer then 18" as thats the standard set for IDE cables and anything longer is said to cause data loss.
