some history:
I had been using onboard audio (realtek) for years, but I was sick and tired of the mic quality being in the toilet.

I tried every tweak & driver I could find, but the mic quality always had a horrible hiss.

So i purchased 3 different headsets to try to remedy the situation:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073VHQLL2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075C256BM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KV3BB0S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

None of them helped - not even the
Sennheiser GSP 300

So I bought the Sound Blaster Play! 3
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XBZ38ZJ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Mic quality was now awesome for ALL 3 headsets. The audio quality was great also.
BUT - positioning (where things sound in space seemed off)

I play ALOT of
Rainbow Six Siege

I need my positional audio to sound clear and precise

I just purchased an
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX PCIe 5.1
https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Blaster-Audigy-Performance-Headphone/dp/B00EO6X4XG

Hoping I would get better positional audio and keep my mic quality.

I was wondering - is there any reason to replace my
Sennheiser GSP 300

with
Sennheiser GAME ZERO Gaming Headset
https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-GAME-Gaming-Headset-Black/dp/B00KNPYAEY

Would it be an improvement ?

Instead of buying 10 headsets check your mic and positional audio settings. Your original problem with the mic hiss sounds like a bad driver or bad setting (automatic dynamic compression with the microphone) which is the most horrible invention ever.

As i stated in the OP, I did try different drivers and settings and ports, and nothing fixed the hiss.
UNTIL I bought the sound blaster play! 3
The hiss magically went away.

I have read that running everything in STEREO gives you the best positional audio, when using a good headset.

Don't believe everything you read. Running headphones with virtual surround gives you the best positional audio. Buy the dolby atmos for headphones from the windows store.

Check out the Audeze Mobius. I have made this suggestion a few times but it will be the first Magnetic Planar Gaming Headset

You're like an anti-Jiminy Cricket, whispering bad thoughts about spending $400 on a headset instead of good conscience advice like 'you should think about paying for food and rent'.
