I need a good 20" or 20.1" monitor for gaming. Does anyone have any suggestions?

how about the NEC 20WMGX2, it's one of the better 20inch monitors, and i beleive an s-ips panel, and good with gaming etc

^^ are you kidding me, the Dell 2007WFP is the most amazing 20.1" monitor EVER! (not that I have ever seen the NEC or anything...)

WAIT, yes to an extent, IMO buy it used...you save about $150, you can make sure it is an A03 or A04, w/ no dead pixels, and that it is an S-IPS panel, lotterly my ass, just be smart about it! :D

well then buy a *good* condition dell 2007WFP in the forums for around $250, mine was a *good* condition one that was an A03, w/ no banding, and was an S-IPS panel, equivalent to $250 (I traded)

I say buy the Dell right now if you're going to because two people (including myself) got S-IPS this week.

I agree that it's the best 20" widescreen under $400 (if you get S-IPS) but the NEC is the absolute best overall in that size class (imo)...unfortunately the price reflects that also.:(

you're NOT serious, right?:(

and you haven't even seen the NEC??

NEC panels smoke ANY dell panel out there, please, get a idea of what you're talking about before you start giving bad advice

MVA based monitors might also be an option.
ViewSonic VX2025wm for example.

And that is exactly why I said that I had never seen it before, IMO, the Dell is the best b/c of the quality you get for the price, it is HIGH quality, wereas the NEC is better than HIGH, but you really are paying a premium for the extra preformance...that most users won't even notice.

but please don't fight about this here, if you feel like you have something more to say to me, please PM me, and I will glady listen!

I had both NEC and Dell for a while, and in some respects liked the Dell better. For exampole, text was easier to read on the Dell. But the sometimes-visible anti-glare coating annoyed me, and I ended keeping the NEC. Matter of personal preference, seemingly some people prefer glossy, some a-g.

lol pwn3d if true....

It doesn't mean they're the same panels, though, does it?
The one used for the NEC is an AS-IPS panel (LM201WE2) and an S-IPS panel (LM201W01) for a lot of the Dell, for the majority of them, i think.

From a technological standpoint, I don't think there is much difference between an AS-IPS and an S-IPS (if there is indeed any difference at all). Aside from a guaranteed (A)S-IPS panel, the NEC gets you a host of other features such as a TV tuner, glossy screen, dynamic backlight and inputs.

Some of the extra features on the NEC are appealing to me, but I don't want them enough to pay the price premium. Its an excellent monitor, but I could live without all the extras if it meant a lower price.
