I find T41s all day long for $100, I love it.

More powerful than a netbook
Good battery life
More accessories
Thinkpad quality and durability
180* hinges
Docking stations <$20
AC Adapters <$20
Full documentation
Full linux support

Throw in a 1GB stick of DDR400, an Intel 2200BG and they're perfect.

links? Sources? Ebay?

ebay, craigslist.

here's a good BIN on one with 1GB of ram:
http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-Thinkpad-T4...ViewItem&pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item519315c40f
if you hit the completed listings you see poor but working units go for $50-75 and fair condition units go for $75+

i saw an x61s 2GB with a cracked palmrest on ebay go for $210.
the unit would normally pull twice that money in
a replacement palmrest is under $50... the crack wasn't that bad anyway.
heck you can buy the x60/x61 magnesium lower chassis for $22 shipped right now.

there was a 1.5GB T42 for $125 a while back in OKC's craigslist
some guy locally is always selling Thinkpads dirt cheap
then there was this
http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/sys/1745355480.html

a local computer store in OKC (CDR Electronics) was selling Hynix 1GB DDR400 SODIMMs at $22 apiece on Saturdays, so I loaded up.

you just have to be patient and accept small issues with the units, be wiling to swap parts and make repairs.

also, if you're going to swap wireless cards, google "no1802.c"
thinkwiki.org also has more information on the 1802 restriction

I don't know about the T4x, with the whole ATI graphics and the bad soldering issue. Just something to be aware of.

I'd actually take that R5x over it, since it's basically the same thing but with intel graphics.
