^ No point mining Sia coins if holding them in hopes they increase value is the goal: they aren't intended to store value, they're unlimited supply, and they're going ASIC next year.

ahh okay that makes sense.. I was looking at it as if they had already bought it or sold it, and couldn't figure out how tanking the value would help them.

alot are saying bn servers are involved so much so they are being banned by one side particularly the side that lexi and btfg and lilfiend is using.

bn is trying to put forward the blockchain crowetic and co supposedly are backing
 
Well consider me ill informed.

If there is a preferred chain for me to go on all I need to know is the ip address of a wallet on it to set it as a trusted peer.

I have a blockchain download available on burstfiend.com/db.tgz, it starts at block 384319, i'm not sure on what block the forking started so if its too recent I can replace with one around block 370000.

^ done with an older rollback and no other peers allowed until it can sync up and i can back up the db for that fork.
 
daWallet has released 1.2.9-rc2 of the standalone local wallet (available here) - download the burst.jar and either of the other files, then unpack and copy/move the jar file in to the new directory and run. You will have to start with a new blockchain database. One change to the config is that it is now set up for needing 10 wellknownpeers instead of 2 for 1.2.8 and prior.

The pools keep attempting to reach a consensus but also keep forking over and over. The network monitor also keeps going back and forth on the Last block with same GenerationSignature, between 384234 and 384303, which could make determining where to hard fork (if necessary) difficult.

If someone, or some group, were to make another PoC based coin, perhaps they'll look at IOTA and the DAG based transaction ledger system (Tangle), which doesn't require sequential processing of transactions unlike almost every other crypto out there. This would help mitigate the damage done by the message spam attack that happened with burst. Another option would be to copy the "Gas" mechanism from Etherium for mitigating spam attacks.

Not to add to the drama but it does look like Bittrex and Poloniex disabled burst. It makes sense to protect buyers and sellers on the various forks but if they don't reactivate it there's not outlet for the currency. If / when we pull out of this I'm sure it'll rally just fine.

That is a good deal on that drive, my dad just bought one for me as an early birthday gift, going to pick it up shortly.
 
I snagged 4 yesterday. That takes me to 256TB on this burst box.

Btw, 1.2.8mu is out now and the recommendation is that we all switch to that version. It went smoothly for me and I have been current for the last several hours now. Right now i'm on:

there are 2 models of this drive,
WD80EFAX and WD80EFZX. The AX model is made in Thailand and has 256mb Cache, the other is made in China and has 128mb cache.
I happened to get the WD80EFAX model with 256mb cache.
 
And there are also the WD80EZZX. Got 4 of those as well. Those are in the MyBook enclosures with the square nose vs. the rounded nose.

If Bittrex and Polo don't reactivate Burst, it doesn't exist.
 
1.2.9b-rc2 has been working for me so far.

Looks like there is a 1.2.9c version out, but looks like it has some untested stuff in it yet. I'll wait before switching versions again either way.

At least the network is starting to get its act together. Just have to wait it out a bit longer.

problem is that cant be mined on or used to send burst only see your burst... i have made 300 during shit storm bust so far and .009 btc off the burst going low buying a crapload then selling while it was being pumped up till they closed withdrawals and deposits i just wish all my burst had been on polo at the time...

I am going to stick with it a while longer I am hoping either a new poc coin is created or this mess gets fixed. I liked this while it worked. The attackers account still has burst left 260k last I saw and each of his spams cost him 1. The bodge fix prevents the attack but does not exactly fix the issue that is being exploited... It was quickly pushed through and that is what got us back to this point. But the account is still attacking...

I honestly hope the perp turns out to be not one of the dev team. If it is pajeet and it is for the reason I think it was I hope they string him up...

Pajeet is the operator of a presumed illegal botnet of 15k+ bots each with at least 200GB of plots he was using to mine with. According to detective work done he was a student or employee at a university. And people upset by his exploiting of burst got his info and may have exposed him to the school or his bosses.

He remains under suspicion of being behind the attack and he has no ground to stand in his defence as his Burstnation has done similar attacks but at a smaller scale in the past....

Devs and pool owners responsible for actually working to fix the problem.
Lexicon, Valareous (BTFG admin), DaWallet, MSFT, Haitch (admin Burst-team.us), and many other burst pool operators who worked hard protecting the servers and updating to code as it was sanitized.

I bought 5 of those refurb 3TB Hitachi 641s for $42 each. If burst dies I'll just make a NAS. I've been wanting to do that anyways.

Appreciate the update Lunas. I have pretty much reached the same conclusion after spending some time on both BN and Burst-team.us (which was down for quite a while during the first few days of the attach). Hopefully this silly feud will end at some point. It does burst absolutely no good. We'll see if it is too late already or not.
 
Anyone still doing this? I've had just over 100TB up and running now for a little while. I'm up to around 8500 burst.
 
Mine is still running, have 3354 with my initial 12TB still.
 
Too inconsistent for me. I'll keep mining until I hit 10k (5300) now after 3 weeks of downtime.. after that if a pool/wallet is stable, I'll keep going.

Can someone please direct me to the most recent DB so I don't have to download the block chain all over again???
 
Things have been running pretty stable for me solo mining. Just under 20k burst now and I'm still in the middle of re-plotting (after changing from small RAID0 arrays behind an Areca controller, to individually mapped volumes behind LSI HBA). I'm now able to read/scan ~250TB in about 30 seconds.

I'm just now getting enough spare time to plot my 500GB drives. Should add about 3TB to my list. Unfortunately, I've only earned about 125 BURST since I started over a month ago. Can honestly say I earn a lot more just streaming videos for points to turn into e-Gift cards and PayPal. However, until I need the storage on those disks, I might as well mine too.
