...and bought a Dell laptop. For "work." But....

- Intel Core Duo Processor T2250 (2MB/1.73GHz/533MHz)
- 1GB, DDR2, 533MHz 2 DIMM Dual Channel
- 128MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1300 HyperMemory (better than GMA950...)
- 60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
- 24X Combo CD-RW/DVD
- Integrated High Definition Audio
- 85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (hope it doesn't blow up, wanted 4hr battery instead of 2...)
- Windows XP MCE 2005

Total: $902.40 including taxes and shipping. E-Value codes and Student Discounts FTW!

How'd I do? Keep in mind that I have my desktop (Opteron 170 @ 2.6, 2GB RAM, 7900GTX SLI) for "difficult work" (aka games).

Would have looked @ Alienware but if I'd bought it I would have caught hell from my parents "Why'd you buy another gaming computer blah blah blah" even though now that I'm in college it's "my money" to spend....not....

@ Appleseed

Well the OP's battery life is much better than the Alienware one.

I wouldn't have gotten an e1505 for note taking. Its just too bulky and heavy. My e1405 is little brother to yours and Im STILL considering trading it for an M1210 or X60 after 2 weeks of bringing it to classes. Its not heavy carrying it around the house, but throw it in the backpack and it adds up quick.

Does the X1300 have its own memory? I hear that it has 32MB and then uses the system memory to get up to 128MB and I've also heard that it has 128MB and uses system memory to beef up to 256MB....please tell me which is right.

If I needed a laptop for taking notes and such, I would take my older Clamshell iBook to class. That thing gets 6 hours of battery while doing word processing :)
