HX850 (2018) vs RM850x (2021)

The HX850 is Platinum rated while the RM850x is Gold, however it is also 3 years newer.

They're roughly the same price. What should I get?

I would go with the rm850x if your running a high powered gpu. I'm paranoid when it comes to transient spike issues, particularly with pre 2020 power supplies. Even tho the OCP seems to be set high on the 12V rail on the hx850 (according to the review thg did in 2017). It may well be a non issue but I would rather not take the chance.

1200W P2 can be had for 159.99 with free shipping, and 1000W models are even less, and then you pretty much don't have to worry about the PSU for a long time, nor transient spikes and OCP on an 850W.
