I thought it was high time this new monitor received its own dedicated thread. There were other discussions about it tucked away in other threads and I thought it would be nice to have the general information stated in one, obvious place.

Here is the PDF product sheet:

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pscmisc/vac/us/product_pdfs/ZR24w_data_sheet_120409.pdf

As of right now (Monday, Feb. 1), HP's website has a Flash blurb that says:

"HP introduces HP ZR22w and HP ZR24w Performance Monitors. Find out more February 1st."

http://www.hp.com/sbso/busproducts-...eativenewsletter/creativelist/learnmorehpz200

Hopefully this new info will be available at some point later in the day. I'm not sure if they'll be released for sale today, or if they're just going to give more details about it.

basic specs:

24"
S-IPS (technically, H2-IPS -- which seems to be an energy-saving variant?)
1900x1200 native
60 Hz
5ms (GtG), 12 ms (on/off)
DisplayPort, DVI-D & VGA (HDCP support on DisplayPort and DVI)
25.35 lbs.

MSRP: ??? -- that's the big one we're waiting on...

I'm personally anxious to see this monitor for a few reasons. I've been gaming/surfing on 1680x1050 for several years now and I'm ready to jump away from my 20" panel. There seem to be relatively few non-TN options at the 23-24" range. The Dell U2410 seems to be extremely hit-or-miss with QC issues, so I'm avoiding that one. The NEC EA231WMi (1900x1080) looks quite good, but I'd WAY rather use the larger resolution of 1900x1200. If this new HP monitor is absurdly priced or reviews poorly, then I will likely end up just going with the 23" NEC.

edit: I should add that the NEC 2490WUXi is one of the best monitors I've ever had the pleasure to use, but is simply way out of my price range at $900+

Yeeap definitely looking forward to this monitor

Been tempted to get the HP LP2475w or Dell u2410, but they're just way too expensive, plagued with problems, and high gamut

Sure, the zr24w is nothing special, but if it manages to have
- lowish input lag
- no or little problems (colour shift, banding etc)
- good availablity
- reasonable price

It would be a winner

I'm happy to go without led's and 120hz to get a decent lcd at a decent price

I've spent days trying to find a gaming monitor... my Samsung 215TW ( PVA?) is about to kick the bucket:

All I came up with is that the Dell Ultrasharp is discontinued:

The HP LP2475w, with it's wide gamut, is oversaturated ( + do I really want to buy a 100-200 dollar colourimeter? ):

Are there quality issues? ( the comments section )

ASUS VW266H ( is a bargain with multiple inputs, speedy TN, limited angles and crap HD video ):

I dunno... maybe a VGA box for my Playstation2 with cheap IPS zr22w, with it's "proper" sRGB thingy might work?

The 2209WA is not discontinued, that info is very, very old and not accurate at all. For a period of time last year, around spring/summer, Dell simply couldn't keep up with demand, and many had to wait over a month for their displays, so some very smart people came to the conclusion that the display was discontinued.

You can still find it and order it on the Dell Small Business site.

Well the flash now says "coming soon" instead of "more info on february 1st". Guess that's not surprising. I've never known HP to stick to their launch dates, so I wouldn't expect any news on the ZR24w today. It's probably going to take at least another week for them to catch up with their schedules.
I used to think this was only a local problem with HP back when I did demos for them, as the European market always seems slow to get the new stuff if at all, but I'm starting to think it's global.

Anyway, I'm done with ranting and extremely interested in the MRSP of that ZR24w as well! I hope the price is right! :D

The 22" (21.5) ZR22W is interesting because it is a 1920x1080 panel at that size, although I'm concerned that it has 16ms on / off and 8ms G2G versus the 12/5 on the 24". I wonder if these will be any cheaper than the current Dell 24 / 22" IPS models, as they are clearly targeted at professional / business users.

Oh! That's exciting news! I shall go on a treasure hunt now! :D

Just a heads up guys, I'll be ordering one of these as soon as it's available (even for MSRP), and I'll try to take some pictures/write up a mini review and such also when I get it. I'm currently using a 2209wa so I'll have that to compare it to.

whoa, I was thinking about getting another U2410 to match the one I already have. But this got my attention.

/sigh

As stated earlier today, the mention of "Feb 1" has now been replaced with "coming soon"

Hopefully sooner than later. I'll keep on eye on their website.

Where's the price tag?
It does not appear to be E-IPS. Data sheet says S-IPS (H2-IPS). H-IPS / S-IPS are a step above E-IPS.

$425 according to this website. This seems to be the only page where a retail price is given; who knows where they took it from. However the retail price of the 22" little brother is officially $289.

For $425, I may be willing to take the plunge and try it out at release before waiting on reviews ;x

Dang for $425 that might be a steal. Damn you HP and your never hitting a release date ways.

-on a hilarious side note, I just configured one of their workstations with the 192GB memory upgrade, wanna guess what 192GB of RAM is going for these days? $97,000. W.T.F.

I can't stand the two-tone bezel. Just being honest. I'd still buy one based on performance and I'm looking for a new monitor, but bleh.

EDIT: Where did I see the black and silver bezel anyway? I could have sworn I saw it somewhere. Hmm, the pdf shows an all black monitor.

EDIT2: It was here. Now I'm confused.

That link is for the low end tn panels.

Here is the pdf for the ZR24w. The ZR22w is identical in appearance.

I personally like all black, non shiny bevels

Which can be easily done by applying black tape all around the edge :D

I just got a "release date" from an HP sales rep.

Guest: I was wondering when the HP ZR24w monitor would be available?

Guest: The previous announcement said: february 1st

Tim: Hi there!

Tim: I appreciate your interest in HP!

Tim: Yes, the "HP ZR24w monitor " is the most awaiting model. But, unfortunately, we do not have any official information on the releasing / orderable date. However, it is been expected to be available at the end of February.

Guest: Thanks for the information. I'll have to wait a bit longer then ;)

meh, end of february :(

At least you have a release date. We Europeans don't even know if HP is planning to sell these in Europe.

My brother in law works at hp in Atlanta I will ask him for more details and reeport back.

There should be no reason for it not to be available in Europe, as this is a business product. It may come just a little later than in the US. (BTW, I'm Belgian, so I'm from Europe as well ;))

@Woodscomp: cheers, keep us posted!

Hmm... hope that low price does not mean no polarizer.

At this time. No polarizer is pretty much a given. Even the $1000+ NEC 2490 version 2, doesn't have polarizer.

Interesting, did not know that. I'll have to read the 2490 thread a little more to see some pics of what the off-angle glow looks like.

Come out already! My girflriend is going to get to my money before this monitor!

That's the HP LE models with TN panels.
