Dont know which company makes the panel but I've been keeping an eye on this LCD also. Found a helpful review @ www.digitalversus.com/article-357-4590-23.html
I looked at one of these at a local store and it does have a nice picture. I prefer the glossy screen. Only thing I didn't like is the factory color calibration (or lackof) if you bring up a white page it is biased toward blue. However, digitalversus.com says once calibrated it right up there with the other 5 star monitors.
I picked up a HP W2558HC a few weeks ago and noticed the blue tint out of the box as well. I refuse to go matte, but the color on this monitor leaves a bit to be desired. For the price, I'm still happy with my purchase.
I ended up going with custom color, setting red higher than green or blue to get rid of the blue tint (mostly). I also had to lower the brightness and contrast quite a bit to stop colors from getting blown out, but that comes down to personal preference.
Also note viewing angles affect color on this monitor. Since it's so large, you will probably notice this if you're not looking straight at it. From an upper position it will shift to blue and from a lower position it shifts to red.
