Just got one of these off eBay for under $200 with 2x16 core Opterons (6276) and 48gb of ram. For those curious, it is the quietest 1U I've ever owned (owned several Dell and Sun 1Us over the years). I know this won't be a speed demon compared to a Xeon system, but for those looking for a 1U server that when loaded with a SSD or two makes a pretty decent ESXi server.

Whats your definition of quiet?

Have you put any load on it yet cause sitting idle it should be pretty quiet..

I threw a Debian VM on it to do some Django dev on it along with a FreeBSD install doing some GCC compiling - with that load level it's on the level of a gaming PC build of 2005ish. No where near for those that remember the GlobalWin Socket A coffee grinders of 2000/2001. I could definitely have a conversation over Skype on my destkop that's only 8 feet from my 38U rack without it being a burden.
