At work we have an MSA-60 Storage Array.

We want to be able to add storage as we see fit however we do not have the hard drive cages to put the drives in we only have 3 cages and I would like to have enough for the whole Array. (Also If they are called something other then cages let me know.)

Does anyone know where you can get the Hard Drive cages for an array without the Hard Drives in them. HP charges your first born for space and it is much more affordable if we watch for deals then put them in the enclosures.

eBay is probably your best option. Anything storage related is not going to be cheap though.

Agreed

Also be sure the shelf will work with non-HP drives. HP does use custom firmware on the drives and controllers.. I have never tried using non-hp gear in HP servers, but I have had issues using HP controllers in non hp servers.

I don't think they're ^^ the right drive sleds.
He needs the newer kind with a slightly different handle on the front.

Thanks,

Those are SCSI though and our array takes either SAS or SATA (Current Drives are SATA).

I glanced at ebay earlier and didn't see much.

you should be able to order just the cage from HP. I ordered another hd cage for a ML350 with no problems from HP, so i'd say just call HP for pricing

Shouldn't be a problem with this box. I've put all sorts of different SAS/SATA drives in those with no problems. That's generally the case with any of the HP storage products I've used.
