Originally, the notebook's hinge became loose and damaged the top cover. I disassembled the unit and replaced the top cover and bezel. (hinges are attached to the top cover). When I put it all together, the unit would not power on. I thought the issue could possibly be the power button because when removing the palmrest, I forgot to release the ribbon cable from the connector on the motherboard. The cable became detached from the tiny power button board. I stuck it back on, but the unit still wouldn't power on.
To make a long story short, I replaced the power button board, dc jack, and motherboard and it still doesn't power on. I even tried another known working ac adapter that's for another model, but used to work with this one and the unit still doesn't power on. The power adapter that came with this unit does work with the other HP notebook.
When either AC adapter is plugged in, the power LED doesn't even light up. I've disassembled and reassembled the notebook several times to make sure everything is connected correctly. At this point, I have no idea what's wrong with the unit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
