Heres what I just scrounged up...I am still waiting for some parts to get here:

$50-Sapphire X850XT
$80-Gigabyte P35-DS3l mobo
$75-Intel E2160 CPU...will overclock to atleast 2.6ghz! Hoping for 3-3.2ghz
$45-G.Skill 2x1gb pc6400 DDR2 800mhz memory
$60-Antec NSK 4480 Case + 380w 80-plus certified psu

I think that is pretty good for $310 shipped! I will eventually pick up an 8800gt after the prices drop due to the 9XXX series and upgrade the cpu to an E8400 later

and I added that to the stuff I already had lying around not in use:
Viewsonic 19" A90F+ Ultrabright CRT (1280x1204 or 1600x1200)
Windows XP Home
Western Digital 80gb IDE HDD
Lite-On Lightscribe DVD-R SATA drive

Games I plan on playing are:
COD4
Battlefield 2 series
Battlefield 2142
Command and Conquer 3
Unreal III
Far Cry
Counter Strike Source & Day Of Defeat Source

How do you think this will handle those games without the cheap cpu and video card I picked up

Not a bad rig for the price and most of those games should run pretty well at low to mid settings.

You should be able to crank up the eye-candy on counter-strike source without any problems.

It should be able to handle all those games at reasonable settings. Medium settings or high settings on some of them with the 1280 x 1024 resolution.

That's not bad at all. All you need is to replace the video card (as you said, later on) to unleash your computer's full potential and enjoy the mentioned games at full settings.

PSU might struggle a bit with overclocking + 8800 card, but you should be OK. Expect 2.6-2.8 from the e2160, the 2180 is usually the chip that gets 3.0+ with stock cooling.

Great motherboard, I built a rig with it last week.

Pretty nice. Like mentioned above that psu with a OC & 8800GT is kinda stretching it. Consider upgrading to the 400w-500w range.

Stick with that PS for now. When you do get an 8800GT, upgrade the PS and then overlock the system. Then, you will get a good boost from the overclocking as well as the addition of the new video card.
