How to recover partition that is "RAW"

Well, I guess I hosed something up. I upgraded my main drive to an SSD and decided to redo my partition.

Long story short My 1 TB partition is gone and it's sitting there as an unformatted "volume"

Nothing has been written or changed to it... how do I make it a volume and recover this partition without losing all my data?

Get a 2nd hard drive. Do a dd clone of the 1st drive to the 2nd. Use a recovery program on the 2nd drive. Most likely, you wiped the partition table. Unfortunately, that'll need to be rewritten by scanning the entire drive.

Use testdisk. You might be able to recover the partition table to the drive without losing anything at all.

Testdisk is an excelent tool. But always make a clone of the disk using DD to avoid accidently loosing something.

dd is dd. In this case, it's used for making a 1:1 copy of the disk as it is before doing anything to it.
