For those of you that don't want to be bothered with reading the article. The answer is.....tape.

The latest story from the Edward Snowden leaks yesterday drives home that the NSA and its spy partners possess specialized tools for doing exactly that. According to The Intercept, the NSA uses a plug-in called GUMFISH to take over cameras on infected machines and snap photos.

That's similar to how I block ads, I just scribble over them on my monitor with permanent marker.
 
But, what do you have to hide? It's not like you can hear them laughing at the size or the porn site you're on...
 
In before someone defends the NSA with "if you have nothing to hide"....

Anyway, I been using a sticker on my WC shortly after getting my laptop.

Also, wonder how easy to hack the PS4 and XBOne cams?
 
Record everything on audio tape and send it to the NSA, so they don't have to bother spying on you. Got it.

I tape View-Master reels to my webcam to confuse the NSA.
 
I just make sure I internet in the nude and stand up quite a few times, I'll know when the NSA is quitting because there will be massive resignations from within the department.
 
TBH, I'm not doing anything illegal, and 99.9% of the time, my dick is out... So...

Go ahead. Spy on.

Black electrical tape, comes off clean, reapplies easy! Not worried about the gubment, but perhaps accidentally opening a video chat window or a suspicious girlfriend spying on me or something. ;)

Only comes off clean in the short term...and only if the tap doesn't get warm
 
They're welcome to turn on my camera.. all they're going to see is my ugly mug.
 
Have you seen what Americans look like ... if they get too many shots of the folks like these handling their goods all their agents will be blind or will have already clawed out their eyes ... so there won't be anyone left to spy on us :p

So everyone worrying that the Kinect would eventually be used by the NSA to spy on people's living rooms were probably right.

Was there ever any doubt beyond the willfully ignorant? The NSA abides by absolutely no legal or ethical restrictions; their spying has only been restricted by the expanding limits of technology. If any ordinary person did a single thing to a single person out of the thousands of things the NSA does to millions of people every day, they'd be in prison for a very long time...but they get to run amok, and nobody with "standing" has the courage to prosecute.

Why do you think they couldn't just enable it again? They regularly turn cellphone mic's on/off without people knowing. Why would something as simple as that stop them.
 
Be funny if you could remove the webcam and replace it with a chip that loops a big fat guy dancing naked as a false signal feed.
 
I'm slowly coming to the realization that the guys in the tinfoil hats were right all along.
What a sad thing Governments are.

Put a sock over the webcam when not in use and close the laptop so the built in camera faces the touchpad. Phone in drawer.

That's the thing, the real conspiracy theorists, seem to be the ones brain washed by the Governments these days, while the other one who though of all this, every day are being proven more and more correct.
