How to get files off this harddrive?

HI,

A clients computer has crashed and I have ordered him a new one. Is there anything I need to know when trying to get the files off his old harddrive to the new one? I have one of those sata to USB connectors so I'm simply going to plug it in. I remember I've had problems with it not letting me transfer files in the past though. Any recommendations on this?

Old harddrive has an HP copy of windows XP, new computer is going to have vista home premium.

You shouldn't have any issues, unless those files were stored in the "my" folders. You may have to take ownership of those directories in order to get at the files.
