How often to do Secure erase to prevent SSD performance degradation

If the operating system using the SSD is TRIM enabled for all the volumes on the SSD, then you don't really need to do this for performance reasons.
 
Yeah they're kind of misusing the secure erase function. That's not its intention at all. Most likely it's just a easy way of triggering TRIM in the SSD logic so that it'll be almost as if it was brand new when you reformat.

The hardest part is getting TRIM to trigger and do its job. This is usually completely out of consumer hands, but there are ways to just about guarantee it to activate on any drive, thus restoring most of the original performance.
 
I thought Win 7 take cares of all that? TRIM is only use on Win XP, isn't it?
