How many 360 controllers have you smashed?

None, because smashing a $50 controller is farking retarded, no matter how angry you get. .

I agree with this but the last game that has made me want to do something like this has to be Geometry Wars 2. I don't know why I get so angry from that game.

See also God of War on the hardest setting. Very fun but I can feel the rage building again right now...:mad::mad:

None.

I suggest you seek professional guidance for your anger issues.

PROTIP : Stop buying games that will upset you. If you remind yourself that gaming is a hobby and should be fun, you'll find you enjoy it much more.

I haven't ever smashed a controller.

I understand the concept of things costing money, and I'm not going to go break my electronics because I got mad playing a videogames. Even when I was a kid and my folks paid for my videogame stuff I wouldn't break it because I *knew* they wouldn't replace it (unless it died on its own)

I have a friend who is on his third Xbox360 headset and seventh Xbox360 controller (he always keeps four controllers so he's only broken two of them) because he can't control his temper in Gears of War.

Doors, walls, and pillows are the things that have to endure my occasional rage. They are much more sturdy, and in the last case much softer too :D

games are spose to be a stress reliever and not the opposite lol. If I get angry I just turn the thing off and do somethign else.

This one time I was playing Final Fantasy Tactics on my PS1 and well, if you've ever played FFT you know how badly it can piss you off, but anyway I didn't break the controller but instead opened up the lid on the PS1, grabbed the disc and threw it against the wall in my crappy apartment as hard as I could, like a frisbee. Then I stopped and looked at it for a bit, calmly walked over to it, and threw it again against the other wall as hard as I could. I went outside on the balcony to chill out. When I came back inside I thought "I wonder if it still works?". Well, I stuck it back in and it did. I then sat down and calmly, with a new sense of purpose, beat that battle I was on and ended up finishing the game without any further issues.

Some people might think I needed "help" or had "issues" but guess what? I still remember that day I did that almost 11 years ago like it was yesterday. I doubt I'd remember it at all if it hadn't invoked so much rage and anger in me. But the most amazing part about all of it was the clarity of mind and purpose I had after it was over. I think some of the folks here need to understand and realize that people often have their most inspirational moments during bad, or stressful, or hard times.

I'd honestly prefer to hang out with someone who sometimes get super pissed when they're gaming. If they break a controller, oh well. It sure is a lot more fun than someone who just sits here like a lump and doesn't really care one way or another.

I got all those beat, When my 360 Red ringed for the 4th time I pulled it out of my component stand, walked out to the garage door and chunked it about 20 feet out in my front yard.:D

Never a controller though, although the 1st PS3 no vibration ones always felt like they were going to break in my hand.

The only time I ever broke a controller was on Stuntman, that game was rediculous. i freaking hulked out and snapped my ps2 controller in half.

I remember playing Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox, and fighting Alma** in the church. I gripped that controller so tight it was wet from the sweat on my hands. I probably snapped that into the side of a wall once or twice. That game frustrated me to no end.

hahaha, I can see that. My old roomate and I used to play the hell out of that game... very very frustrating

My brother used to chew on and throw SNES controllers when he got angry (often). Sturdy buggers just kept working. He didn't harm the controllers on my N64, fortunately ;)

*always really calm herself* :p

I've never broken a controller, or anything for that matter, due to anger/rage.

You...need help.

Never smashed a controller myself.

I threw a joystick at a TV when I was a kid... luckily they were built to last in those days. :D

only broke one... and i didn't throw it. i was getting upset at the gears of war 2 devs for writing what is in my opinion the crappiest net code since the ps2. i just kind of slapped the controller against my right hand.... well the b, rb and rt buttons no longer work, kind of a useless controller.

Ladies and gentleman we have a winner! I suggest professional help in anger management :D

I've never smashed a controller. I've been pissed off more than once, and yelled obscenities at a game, but to break a controller I paid good money for just seems stupid :p

Especially for males reason often seems to take a firm back seat when there's something to get frustrated/angry about ;)

I have taken out 1 game cube controller, but thats about it. Couldnt imagine smashing a console.

None. Film yourself next time you want to show that controller who's the boss...

None for me, but my poor old original NES had the door broken off of it the second day I got it.

I see our more enlightened members have come here offering platitudes of therapy... you will be the ones going postal before me.

None.I don't get mad enough to break one. I'll just quit if a game is pissing me off and then come back later.

I've never personally spiked a controller like a football or anything, but I've shaken my fist at my TV and monitor a time or three. Most recently it was caused by Seth in Street Fighter IV. What a pain in the ass.

At the same time, I totally understand people who toss stuff. I had a handful of Genesis controllers broken in college (by a roommate who, to his credit, did replace everything he broke. I think I ended up with a couple spares because he went out and bought like 8-10 becuase he felt bad). At some point I think it was funny to him. He'd get torqued off at NCAA '95 and get some serious rage but he always took it out on inanimate objects.

only one 360 controller, fucking MLB2K7 or 2K6 cant remember, but HOLY SHIT, playing that online, I was trying to get the 5 wins in a row achievement and I swear, my opponents were hitting home runs like they we going out of style. I could not tell you how angry I got when they hit a home run off me. it pissed me off even more when they were tough pitches to hit. like a knuckle ball down and inside or a high inside fast ball..

anyway. everytime they hit a homerun id banged the shit outta my controller on my desk (hooked my 360 up to my PC monitor) needless to say, I smashed it virtually beyond recognition.

after that I vowed never to play another MLB game again.

there have also been times where I wanted to throw my controller at my TV, but LCDs are very fragile as I noctived from those Wii youtube videos, plus they re expensive to replace.

Reading this thread has made me wonder if I am not aggressive enough when venting my game frustration. In other words time to try some physical aggression instead of verbal...

For now, haven't broken anything.
