How man CFX bridges are needed to 2 Cards?

Ok guys never ran a Crossfire setup before and I see people with both 1 and 2 bridges installed while having only 2 cards. Which is correct?
 
either one is. I personally have both installed, since I hate seeing unused cf/sli fingers. (dual HD5870, here. Previously dual reference HD5770)
 
I use just 1, no need for 2 really. It's primarily there for 3x CF.
