Lack of power management is the biggest hassle of using a TV as a display. Turning them off and on can be a pain. I owned one that took forever to start and it drove me crazy. Some TVs don't even have physical power buttons. You have to fumble around with a remote control.

This thread is to report:
  1. Does the TV have a physical power button?
  2. How many seconds does it take to power up and display an image?
I'll update this post as people report...

You should also add the LG 43MU7000

LG 43MU7000: Power button = yes
Sony XBR-43X800E: Power button = no

Sony XBR-43X800D: Power button on lower left on back panel of the TV. Takes 3-4 seconds to power on.

Physical power button - Yes, underneath center screen

~4 seconds to power up to display input.

It adds up. Do the math for five times a day over a year. That's one hour staring at a blank screen for absolutely no reason.
So, you gain a single hour over a period of 8760 hours (1 year) by looking at a blank screen for 1 second vs. 3 seconds every time you turn on your TV, assuming you turn on your TV 5 times per day... doing the math.

Correction on Sony 43x800E -> found the power button on the right side. Should be a "Yes".

If you can't stand waiting 2 seconds, you must have a horrible life. It must drive you insane waiting at a stop light or literally ANYTHING else in life, knowing that you are wasting time. If it really bothered you that much, just don't ever turn the TV off.

it's a once-you've-experienced-it-everything-else-sucks kind of thing. my PG278Q turns on instantaneously, it's one of my favorite features ever.

Vizio P65-C1 - 25 seconds in Eco Mode, ~30 seconds in Quick Start mode (picture shows up at 15 seconds for a second but then no signal for about 10 more seconds). Must be some funky HDMI handshake gremlins.

lol.

(Yes to power button.)

This guy has to be just trolling. He cannot be serious about it. I mean, if you grab the remote turn it on, by the time you sit down and get comfy to use your computer the 3 seconds are gone. I cannot believe this is a serious concern at all...

Sharp LC-43N6100U, 14-seconds. 4 just for the screen to light up, 10 to stare at SHARP logo. Yes, has physical button.

LG 60UH6035 - 5 seconds to turn on, maybe 10 more seconds before "smart" features such as apps are available to use.
