It seems the smart phone fad isn't leaving so I am finally looking at going from a basic phone to a smartphone. Sprint's Samsung ATIV S looks pretty snazzy and has SD card expansion... Has anyone picked up one? How are you digging it?

I would like to get a Lumia 1020, but I am not looking to positively explode my phone bill. Ugh.

Looked like a GS3 running WP8. Rumors had Verizon offering it Dec 2012, but instead we got the crappy odyssey. Far as I know it was never sold in the US. I thought it looked like a phone I could own.

Why would the Lumia blow up your bill but the ATIV S wouldn't?

I'm considering picking up this phone as my first Windows phone and main phone as I change countries. Heard very good things about it, mostly due to the massive (2,300 mAh) battery and general stability. It's supposedly a lot faster than Android on the same hardware as well.

WP runs smoother on the same hardware than android. Part of it is the OS design. They use animations to hide lag effectively. Battery life tends to be better for the same size battery as well, but moat android phones have bigger batteries so ita mostly a wash in daily usage

Co-worker just got one on Sprint. He said he likes it a lot and he came form the original Epic 4G (original Galaxy S variant). But he's also in his 50s and doesn't do much with his phone, so he couldn't exactly say why he liked it other than the pretty animations and being a lot faster than his old Epic 4G. I'm pretty sure it's the same thing as the Galaxy S3 with WP8 on it, which isn't a bad thing.

Yup, the GS3 is a solid phone and WP8 is a snappier, more light-weight OS than Android. Can't go wrong there :)

I've used the original ATIV S (the Neo is closely related). It's alright, but it really is a Galaxy S III... just without the app ecosystem and all of Samsung's TouchWiz features. Which may be a good thing, for some people.

On Sprint, I'd be tempted to get a Moto X or HTC One, as long as 16GB of storage was fine. Heck, keep your mind open and look at an iPhone 5c or 5s -- they're both fast for the money, and come with nice cameras.

Ah.. gotcha. As it is I am on Sprint now and after checking the pricing it seems everyone else is even MORE than the $80/month unlimited blah-blah-blah that Sprint has.. and with it I am looking to go the W8 phone route.. Of the two offered the ATIVS Neo seemed nice.

Yeah, Straight Talk or Net10 has an AT&T based SIM. Dont need to unlock the phone either. Or you could go with AT&T's own prepaid for $60, but screw them.

If any one is looking for a smartphone that has got some great entertainment features and at the same time is apt for business usage then you must consider buying Samsung Ativ S.

ATIV S is garbage.

Really, only Lumias are worth it on WP... best hardware, best software, best support.

Hmm.. well this has been an interesting mixed-bag of responses. I am getting the general feeling that "ATIV S NEO" isn't an overall bad phone - right?
