What is the correct way to run a second monitor. Do you plug it into card or motherboard?
Using main monitor for gaming, second one is just accessories, Not for gaming.
Would it take a load of GPU if it's connected to motherboard or does it not matter?

Many mobos disable onboard ports when a dedicated card is detected.

99% of the time plugging into your GPU is the best bet, unless you are really worried about idle power usage or have some weird use case scenario.

This ^

If you want the CPU to push the second monitor your best bet would be a USB to display adapter.
I will say this I switched back to a single monitor several years, in my personal testing having a second screen at all regardless of what it was doing taxed the GPU almost 10% extra.

nope, not unless you are responsible for paying the electric bill for legions of rigs in an office setting or similar.
