My parents think my sister and I are hogging all of our 5.15mb/s bandwidth when I am certain its their laptops weak reception. I've proved it in the following ways.
-I tested the wifi sync rate on our newest laptop all around the house including where they put their work laptops and got the maximum 54mb/s. Their work laptops get 5-11mb/s.
-They complained about connection rate even when the two ethernet connected computers were off. They believed they could still allocate bandwidth
so I disconected the cat6 cables just to prove they weren't.
-I demonstrated that the water in their bodies blocks the signal by sitting between the computer and the router and showing how the sync rate halved.
-I showed them that games only use 40-50kb/s using Vista's bandwidth monitor.
How else can I prove that sync rate is their problem and that sync rate is not related to bandwidth use? Even if I am downloading (not uploading) at full speed the router will share bandwidth equally right? Are there any articles by an IT professional that prove my point?
