I'm looking for the IP address of http://forums.relicnews.com/forumdisplay.php?f=90

I have to call the IT guys here at work and tell them they are blocking a harmless message board. I can get into all other forums but this one. Usually I just call up and give them the IP address and they unblock it.

They blocked ebay once and the staff was ready to lynch the IT department.LOL

Thanx

If you are unfamiliar with doing a DNS lookup directly from your system you can use a Web-based tool.

http://www.zoneedit.com/lookup.html

Enter the host you wish to find the IP for, in this case forums.relicnews.com, in box 1 under DNS lookup, leave everything else as default, and click on the button. You should see the result of 216.234.246.251.

I tried to see if I could get on the website by using http://216.234.246.251/ and I got a blank screen. I'm guessing it doesn't work this way, correct?

Left a message with the IT guys. Is there anyway to backdoor their firewall until they unblock the site?

Nevermind. They unblocked it. Damn, that was quick. Probably couldn't backdoor their firewall anyway.

I always just "ping blah.com" to get the ip...

The reason http://x.x.x.x may not work... Some servers host multiple sites on 1 single IP address using host header names :)
