I'm trying to dual boot Ubuntu with my Windows 7 install on my laptop. See my signature for specs. When I ran the live CD on my flash drive and went to install it, the only options were to replace the Windows 7 install or selection 'other'. On my desktop, the option to install along side windows came up on the install window.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

I would recommend that you resize it with Gparted via the live CD & then install it accordingly. GRUB should take care of the booting for both.

Can I just create a new partition in the windows disk manager and then install Ubuntu on that partition? Will grub load then for me?

You could use the "diskmgmt.msc" tool to shrink the OS partition & go through with the process.
