Here is my situation. I have one router downstairs and I have a single cable running upstairs. I want the second router to basically just split the question for two separate computers. This worked fine before using a hub (which just splits a connection), but I want to use a router instead.

First router = WRT54G Second = Netgear RP614

im guessing plug the cable going upstairs into the Uplink input then have two cables coming out of the router upstairs.

I had two routers, one was the main one from the internet, the other I just wanted to use as a switch. Since I didn't want to filter/block anything w/ the second router, i don't use the WAN port and just use the other ports to connect pc's to the network. Works fine for me.

Use any regular port to connect to a regular port in the other router.

Disable DHCP service on the router not serving the internet.

crossover cable maybe? normal port to normal port should connect with a crossover cable.

either that or put one end in an "uplink port" (which crosses it for you) and the other end into a normal port
