How Big Will Half-Life2 Be Fully Installed???

If you have a 120 gig drive and you don't care how big it is, why the hell would you ask? This is more pointless speculation than what you think the minimum / recommended specs will be, since it's completely arbitrary.

But while we're on the topic, how big do you think the install executable will be? I'm thinking 2.7mb.

The "alpha" is 3.22Gig.....or so Ive heard...

So I imagine the finished product will be roughly 4-5gig.

stupid joke. don't worry. I love my mac. rock climbing with superstars, hang gliding with visual artists I just don't get that from my pc, my friend is always talking about how much better windows is to mac, but his socks don't even match, my dad used to hit me with his windows computer. you know that movie where all the people move to iceland, well macintosh is iceland, so move to iceland, you know if anyone cares.

que?

I remember using Macs in High school for my art. Macs have really good rendering which is good with art but thats it. THey are slow pieces of shits IMHO. Plus PC's are faster (use PC's for our 3D animations in College).

The Alpha Demo of Half-life 2 was about 3 gigs.

Well, the macs used to be better. Now its largely a matter of personal opinion/software optimization. In the past much of the software was optimized for mac (or not even available for win).

I have it on good authority that it's not going to ship on CD or DVD. It's so huge, they'll have to ship it on a hard drive.

Funny I thought it would be something like one of those old windows os's (win95) which came on a ton of floppies, so say 25cd's? :)
So get ready for those "insert cd 2, insert cd 3, insert cd 4, insert cd 5, insert cd 6, insert cd 7, insert cd 8, insert cd 9, insert cd 10, insert cd 11.... insert cd 21, insert cd 22, insert cd 23... sorry
cd/disk damaged/unreadable please try again... /what the f...k!
Then posts on the internet asking for certain cd's, "hey anyone cd 5 is scratched anyone have it for download? Sort of like the links people are willing to give for the zips for win3.1 or 3.0
my two cents

:)

Haha fixed my reference from "insert disk" to "insert cd" to be more modern since the era of the floppy has said to be gone. Wow can't wait until I can make the reference "insert dvd 2, 3, 4, 5, "

Fixed some typos after creating a couple of new ones with my fix

No thats a negative.

I have 2 120gig harddrives and I only have 2gig total of free space left. Looks like I'm not going to be able to play hl2.

UT2004 is only 1.5Gig and look how much that game has in textures. I doubt it will be over 3GBs. Raven Shield is 2Gigs.

UT2004 is about 5.7gb installed.

As for how big HL2 will be?

It will come on a 5 1/4" floppy. It will be a screenshot of Gordon Freeman giving you the finger.

I can tell you that the size of the alpha leak is in no way relevant to the size of the full release, due to its compilation. However, I'm not going to say more, with [H]'s policies on warez discussion.

MaximumPC has the top 10 3D game sof 2004 roundup in their May issue. It shows the processor speed, video card, and amount of memory you will need for each of these games to run flawless at high resolutions and maximum eye candy.

Half Life 2 is suppost to be 2.5Ghz with 1GB of RAM.

Doom 3 though is suppost to be 3Ghz with 2GB of RAM!

And Lineage II is 3.5Ghz with 2GB of RAM!!!

That's a lot of...something. I'd guess you either:

A: Collect a mind-boggling amount of porn
B: Download warez
C: Play tons of games and never uninstall them
D: Never delete anything
E: Combine all of these

They said ATI 9700 pro or nVidia GeForce 6800+. I dont entirely agree with nVidia choice though as i think an overclocked 5900XT like mine or a stock 5950 will perform flawlessly.

Looks like valve knows hot to optomize correctly.

Either that, or that Maximum PC is very good at arbitrary estimates for performance, since they have precisely nothing to base those numbers off of - for any of the games - I'd assume.

It's maximum PC. They advertise more than anything else at times. It seems to me.

Still the best PC mag out there :). If they didn't advertise a little they wouldn't get any money. Where do you think Anandtech and Tomshardware get all their moocho from? Their sure aren't able to do new reviews and articles every day because they were born rich lol.

I've been reading MaximumPC for quite a while and they are usually right on target with their information. They have a couple typo's now and then but usually minor stuff. Nothing near the shit i've seen posted on hardware sites online on different occassions.

I've already started building my TB array so I can install HL2.

25 X 73Gb 15,000RPM ULTRA 320 SCSI in Raid 5. I also called NASA looking for a heads up on any new technology but they wouldnt budge.

My solid state drive should also be here by next week.

How many FPS do you think I will get in HL2 and how many more gaziggyhertz will I need for 1500 bajillion fps?

Hey what kind of keyboard will I need to play HL2? I know it won't be out for quite a while and I could just get a new keyboard then, but I am going to ask anyway because I need to know now!! ;)

you'll definately need a new 3000XM Super Snipe Pro Keyboard with dual spring keys and rapid tap fire buttons.

I'd also grab a super slick 4000 mouse with built in aimer and a hidden candy compartment.

Make sure you have them mod the mouse and keyboards for you to include fans to keep your hands cool.

I doubt grace is the word. A lapse in Eve play has left me gameless.
