Hmm... looking on the encore page, it says $19 - $15 code = $5. After adding it to the cart, it says the code is no longer valid. Looking at the item item page now, the item code isn't there... but it still is on the encore page.

Same thing happened with another item as well. I think someone is asleep at the switch.

I've not heard the 201's, but my co-worker bought the HD 202's and I've got the HD280pros. They sound very similar. So much, that it's not worth buying the 280 pros.

I don't know how different the 201's are from the 202's though.

The HD201 are great headphones. I've been using them as my travel/work headphones for 4 years now. They sound quite good but the 10 ft long cable is unwieldy sometimes. I've never tried them amped but I hear they are even better. I also own the HD280 Pro. I use them at home for various things. They are studio phones, are easier to drive than the HD201 (I don't care what the impedance suggests), and I've never heard better passive sound attenuation.

The HD201/2 run isn't very comfortable. ...especially to anyone who has or does own HD55x cans. Ofc they're two completely different product tiers.

Nice long cable, which is good for computer use. Listening to them right now. Fairly comfortable (not the best, but not bad either, especially at this price.) The sound is good, though. Pretty even across the EQ, and they don't distort on my S3 when I give a bit of bass boost with PowerAmp. Worth $20. $5 is the biggest no-brainer ever, hehe.

Sale appears over, but these will make a good gift for those of you who got in on it. I already picked up a pair on Amazon for $15 and thought that was a good deal. I picked up two more on this sale last night.

How's this compared to my RS 180? Was planning on buying one for the office.

I don't want to seem like I'm picking on you, but are you seriously asking this? In my experience you can get some "decent" $30-50 headphones. However in your case you know what a higher end headphone sounds like and you have become acclimated to a level of quality. Now that definition for "decent" shifts and that $30-50 headphone that you used to think was decent now sounds really muddy, lacks depth and separation of instruments, and you feel like you're missing half of your audio experience.

Do yourself a favor and get something a little more expensive. I personally would look in the $80-150 range and you're more likely to find something that is way more comparable to your SR 180s. After all you're making money at work and in turn the headphones will make your work experience more pleasurable.

I have the HD201 and the RS180s. I prefer the wireless RS180s. I think they sound better for every type of music I listen to.

My HD202's cost me 18 bucks......I can assure you they compete with the 80-150 range headphones, for the most part.

Yeah I am all for budget headphones that pack a punch. However, the same thing happens as the teirs go up. Much as you can buy a $30 headphone that sounds like something that cost $80-150. You can also buy $80-150 headphones which sound similar to $200-300 headphones. It all comes down to research and not buying into big name hype. Basically in every tier there will be those select few headphones which can somewhat bleed into the next tier up.

Agreed. However, also depends on the person and how well they hear it.

There are things I never herd on my car audio system, just by changing out a subwoofer to a better brand......I can hear things I have not.

Same for the the HD202. Now, let my mom or co-workers listen to my HD202's......"oh this sounds ok" but never wow's them. It wowed me though.

Well, I have listened to many headphones and I do own the 201's(have not heard the 202's), and while it is true some cheap solutions can be compared to better stuff sometimes, id question what crap you are buying if you think $10-20 headphones compare with $100+ heh. I know any headphones id buy in the $100 range obliterate any $10-20 pair of headphones heh. Just sayin.
