HOT! Ryzen 7 2700 8 Core Processor $135 @ Newegg

This does seem like a pretty good deal, but I've seen someone say they got the 2700x for $130. Given that prices gradually decline I think I'll wait for a deal at least that good.

$150 is the normal price for the 2700.

I paid$160 a month or two ago so I feel like this price is a solid deal for a good CPU.

Microcenter has the 2700x for 139, seen some for 119 open box w/ warranty
tried forever to find someone close to one to pick one up for me

I7 8700 would be close, as far as gaming performance.
Ok gotcha, I think I get the naming scheme, ryzen 5 -> i5, 7 -> i7, then 2700 -> 8700, 3600 -> 9600(?), x -> k (?)

Just trying to justify an upgrade that leaves room for further upgrades without requiring complete new gear which unfortunately I shoe horned myself into with my current i5-4690k, the only upgrade path is an i7-4790k

Similar nomenclature, but not like for like. Here's an older but still relevant breakdown explaining AMD's CPU naming scheme:
