Hot deals for folders

I haven't searched this whole forum yet, but has anyone posted the Evga B-stock page? They occasionally have some pretty hot deals on folding cards there: http://www.evga.com/products/prodlist.asp?switch=20

Right now they have a few goodies..

GTX 560 for $149.99 shipped
GTX460 with performance boost for $110 shipped
GT240 (DDR5 model) for $40 shipped
etc.

Unfortunately? Evga is awesome. I've had nothing but good experience with their cards. Just cuz they are competing for points is no reason not to take advantage of their deals. Buy one of the cards and use it against em. :)

on ebay the cheapest i could see was 550$ for one, this guy is selling four for 800.

i think its good price, not sure

Anyone know of a deal close to this on DDR2?
DIMM and/or SODIMM
unlikely, DDR2 stock has dried up to the point of driving up prices. Thats the nature of a commodity product like DRAM.. sucks for users looking to add some life to older rigs though. your best bet would probably be to find some in FS/FT

Yeah, tahts what I figured.. I sold off 4GB (2x2) for like 65$ about a year ago.. At some point I know some place will want to get dump their entire stock to make room for new stuff.. You usually only get one chance for those kinds of crazy prices

Hey guys I am thinking of getting into folding and saw this inexpensive dual xeon setup and was wondering about your thought on its capability for folding

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?InvtId=2850-XEON32X2-4R

I know it's dated but I am on a tight budget ($200 to start for now) and thought this was a reasonable start to put out in a soon to be acquired re-purposed server rack in my garage. Thoughts?

Unfortunately that's going to hurt pretty bad in terms of folding. Dual netburst xeons will probably only generate 2000 PPD if you're lucky. Probably more like 1000 to 1500 PPD.

You would get better results with a similarly priced cpu/mobo/etc combo from newegg. You could definitely do better at microcenter.

This is not the best example but here's a hex-core AMD combo for $399 (scroll up)
http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemai...L081811-_-EMC-081811-Index-_-E0-_-SeeAll2#Per

It would use less power than your Xeon and produce roughly 5x-10x more PPD.

Actually here's one close to your budget. $220 for a quad core combo.

You can shop all of newegg's combos here

Do you absolutely need something in a rackmount chassis?

Thanks jebo_4jc. I don't have to have a rackmount, it was just a thought so i could build on it in the future easily and conserve space. The hex & quad core are more complete boxes in all and as you said would be more efficient all around. I'll just wait and save up some more then take the plunge then. Thanks!

your link is screwed up or [H] doesn't allow it, one of the two.

That's what happens when Kyle gets pissed at a website. He adds their name to the content censor.

Antec Neo 620C for $30 shipped AR.

I stand by my claim that this is probably the best psu you can get for under 80-100 bucks. I buy one of these and one of the CX430's every time they show up for their respective $30 and $15 specials and never lack for a PSU. :D

Got an extra Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad laing around?

Here's a socket 775 e-7050/610i Motherboard (with integrated video) for $19.99 + $5 shipping.

I know some of you don't like the thought of buying from "the competition", but honestly..they can't be making much money by selling this sucker for $20.

I'm sure they're just trying to get rid of old stock rather than make money. However, I wouldn't touch that board with a ten-foot pole considering the chipset it uses. You can grab a brand new G31 board for $10-15 more that comes with a full warranty and will give you better performance and reliability.

agreed. Those boards were garbage

Hmmm...

I cannot get the code to work for me. Looking at the ASUS dual socket 1366 board.

This promo code BTEKAKD32 you entered is only available for specific programs.
