Hot deals for folders

o, thought it would be 16 or maybe even 32

nevermind

I was thinking that some of us were moving to CPU clients, that we could put in a cheap VC untill we know the status of the new clients.

Jeez if I didn't already have a 920 I would consider that... The 960s are going for that much on Newegg.

Right, but a 1500 mile road trip, or 8.60 for someone to mail it to me negates the microcenter price.

Not sure how hot this is for most of you, but I found this in my inbox a few minutes ago...buy VMWare Workstation 7 with a second copy (for a friend?) and get 30% off.

EDIT - THIS IS NOT FOR TWO COPIES! They give you a 30% discount if you buy two copies, instead of the two for one deal I *thought* this was. Sorry about posting this prior to reading through it all....

Here's the linkage if you're still interested:

I wont be jumping on this as I am VERY new to VMs, but what is the difference/advantage to folders for the workstation vs. VMWare Player (free)?

For Folding purposes not much, but i run a bunch of VMs so for me this is a great deal.

Double check this Nitro and drop me a note. I checked into it further and it comes in to $133 per copy, not the two for one it seemed at first. Let me know...

Fry's has a shockingly-good deal on a cheap CPU/Mobo combo. Sempron 140 with MSI K9N6PGM-V2 motherboard for $40-$10MIR = $30.

Sempron 140: 2.7GHz, AM3, 1MB L2, 45W TDP
K9N6PGM-V2: 2x240 DDR2, 800/667MHz, 1x PCIe x16, 2x PCI, 1xPCIex1

A great combo if you're looking to build a cheap GPU rig...

Edit, Whoops, forgot the link

meh, it's a 192 SP GTX 260. I suppose that is a good price but I'd rather spend another few dollars and have a more modern 216 SP GTX 260. I just bought a brand new BFG GTX 260 for $175 from the 'egg.

My buddy was in the Microcenter in Minneapolis and said they had 9800GT's for $49.99.
Can't personally comfirm, but if you live in the area.......

FALSE ALARM

He went back for me and they had the wrong product in the wrong spot!
I was going to have him buy 10 or so if not for the mistake!!

Am I the only one from the NH area? If not, you might find this interesting:

Saturday January 23 from 10AM to 3PM at 300 West Road Unit 1 in Portsmouth NH. (West road is behind Market Basket/the old Yoken's location off Rt. 1)

Come to a hard core computer yard sale - purchase systems and equipment that has been removed from service in a data center. Dozens of rack mount systems and blade servers, KVMs, UPSes, monitors, SCSI storage systems, hundreds of hard drives, racks, switches, Multi processor servers with redundant power supplies and SCSI arrays and more.

Some systems boot as is, others will require work or are for use as parts. You'll be able to purchase several machines to put together working systems.

This is not a yard sale for a typical computer user. This isn't the place to find a system for your kid to do homework on, unless that homework is for a computer science degree. Hard core users, and users working on becoming hard core, will love this. Bring friends. Yard sales like this don't come around often, if ever.

E-mail for a partial listing and some photos. Some items are still being cataloged. [email protected]

Damn, sounds like our kind of garage sale lol

I'm so upset right now, I hail from Nashua but am staying in TX for the year on work. I would so be there with my whole paycheck in hand... and maybe some from savings :)

Etasis 750w $49.99 w/FS http://www.newegg.com/Special/ShellShocker.aspx

(reposting what I said in the Hot Deals subforum)
Picked one up as a backup....was thinking about a cheap low power one like the Antec 380D for $43.99 shipped, but even with this one having the shorter warranty it's a great deal. Going off reviews and the fact that Etasis makes Silverstone psus and server psus, I have no doubt it'll last well over a year (especially considering that I'll be using it sparingly anyway).

Same as a Silverstone Zeus, 750w and $49.99? Sold.

Very nice psu for the money, should easily push a 2-3 card Folding rig (depending on the cards).
