Hey guys, don't know if any of you have heard of this yet, but right now there's a nice offer on the 4850 x2 for $366.68. The online store has a 6 month rating of 9.32 and a lifetime rating of 8.54 on Resellerratings.com so seems to be pretty decent.

$366.68 is much better than Newegg's previous prices of $419 and $400, and is closer to the actual price range of this card.

At that price the 280 is a much better buy imo. If it was around 330-350. It would be worth considering. Isn't ATI doing a price cut shortly anyway?

Cold. XFired 4850's are $100 cheaper, and used 4870X2's are even starting to dip into the upper $300's...

I actually think that is a good deal. I would pick that up myself, if I hadn't bought already.

Edit: lol. I read that as 4870 X2. Nevermind

Xfired 4850's have 512mb/GPU, the 4850 x2 has 1GB/GPU, that's why I think they priced it higher than we might expect. Fudzilla says that AMD will be coming out with a 1GB 4850 x2 (that is, 512MB/GPU) sometime in the near future ... not that Fud is reliable, but still, something to mull over a bit. I placed an order myself so I'll see how it is.

CrossFired 4850s perform worse than the 4850x2, which is the same case with the 4870s.

Sillygoose. This is the 1GB x 2 version. :D

You are correct. In fact, in a few titles at high resolutions the 4850x2 mysteriously outperforms the 4870x2.

They did need to put out a card in between the 4870 1gb and the 4870x2, the price gap was just too large.

Yes, this is a good deal. Should hand a single 4870 1gb and GTX 280 its ass in most games.

an awesome deal. if i wasn't sitting on 2 4850's a 2400xt, and a partially complete 5.1 HT setup I'd jump on this deal. Real good price for an awesome card. Does outperform anything in it's price range (new of course). 2x 4850's can't compare, the 280 still beats it in some games (same games that it beats the 4870x2 at). Outperforms the 4870x2 in some popular games. Only downside is that it's longer than any gamer card out there. Not sure how well it'll do in my sg03.

+ewiz is an awesome reputable seller. only problem i ever had was when they had a few too good to be true weekend prices that sold out their stock real quick, but the website wouldnt update until monday. not sure if they fixed that yet. Bought from them many times, good alternative to newegg. if you click through froogle you get an extra discount too (366 is the froogle discounted price).
+ $379 shipped beats the shiz outta $399 shipped on newegg (after dammed $20 MIR too).

Seems like the 4850x2 I ordered will be on its way soon ... the tracking number's already on UPS so looks like the price is, indeed, not a fluke. If it turns out well, looks like I'll have to sell off my GTX 260 (192) soon ...

Do post some numbers and results please! :D Also your own thoughts, temps, noise, etc.

Got my 4850 x2 yesterday (Tuesday), and will put up a review in the ATI section of the Video Cards forum either this weekend or next week; I need to buy a cheap digital camera for pics as my crappy cell phone camera just won't cut it :p

Yeah this card is within 5-10% of the 4870x2 for 200ish less brand new. But mysteriously theres not a ton of publicity on it

You need to take into account minimum fps more than anything else when looking at performance results and shouldn't even bother looking at resolutions less than 1920x1200. The 4850x2 is a pretty fast card just like two 4850's in Crossfire offer pretty decent performance as well but the 4850x2 is still just a 4850 part with slower QDDR3 RAM.

The 4850x2 a nice card but don't give it too much credit at it's current price point. The 4870x2 is going to be more than just 5-10% faster when you start hitting those high resolutions with max AA+AF. The GTX 280 also tends to offer higher minimum fps a lot of times over the 4870x2 so the GTX 280 will have even better minimum fps than the 4850x2.

Hopefully HardOCP will review the 4850x2 before long so we can see how it stacks up in real world gameplay.
