I want to be able to host a website just from my computer name or IP.

Have it auto load the index.html

Any ideas? I use to know how on windows98

OS is Windows 2003 server or if that wont work XP

Just start up the IIS service and dump in your html files. Or you could download apache for windows. You have a few options.

In Server 2003, you just have to read up on IIS and where it serves pages from. In XP, you can install Apache webserver, and it can serve pages from its htdocs directory (or somewhere else depending).

edit: heh, StickyLoad beat me to it.

Or, in XP, just use IIS.

1) Fire up Control Panel
2) Double-click "Add or Remove Programs"
3) Click on the "Add/Remove Windows Components" icon
4) mark the box next to "Internet Information Services (ISS)"
5) Click on "Details..." to add components you need or remove components you don't want.

IIRC, IIS is only available in XP Pro. This is the same way you can install IIS under Windows 2003 Server.

Thanks guys, I hope 2003 has IIS installed off the CD, cause I sure dont have a copy of the CD. =X

Well, mine did, so I'm assuming it does.
