Horizon: Zero Dawn coming to PC

The voice acting is fucking terrible, story so far is autistic.

Edit: game treats the player like they are 8 years old. Over explaining everything.

“A metal door” well no shit I can fucking see 3 feet in front of me!

Never had any issues with the VA, its easily above average but not award winning.

The game does that not because they think you have the IQ of an eight year old but to attempt and craft a world, story and characters that are in many ways rather primitive and neolithic so a metal door is a big deal to them.

Also why does it keep switching camera views from over left shoulder to right?

Ok that makes more sense. But why the fuck cant she walk in a straight line without drifting to the left or right! It's driving me insane!

Edit: I guess it's a known bug! LOL, what the fuck?! How did they let that pass any sort of QA? Who was play testing this shit!?

Yeah, that sounds like a bug, never had drift in PS4. Maybe its a new feature, Horizon Zero Dawn: Kojima Stranding Edition.

So disappointing that this is a buggy mess.

BTW - I noticed if I have vsync disabled in the nvidia control panel - I get stuttering in the game, much like what has been described in the forums and on reddit. With it enabled (Should be enabled with a G-Sync monitor) - I get no stuttering at all. Its pretty much locked at 60fps with textures at medium and clouds set to high.

Performance is fine. No crashes whatsoever. Not sure what the dumpster fire on the boards is all about. Maybe it's because I don't watch porn on my computer and it's not infected malware?

I'm warming up to the game. No refund for me, it's a keeper. I can see why a lot of people like it.
Edit : I didn't even have 144hz on. I'm just not seeing any of the issues people are bitching about. Good game so far, I'll be playing all weekend i can tell.

I think it’s mostly that PC people look at how inferior the console is to modern hardware and expect the game to run as though it isn’t still a rather complex and demanding game.

And like others have said comparisons to Death Stranding don’t matter as that game went wholly into model detail and not into quantity of models. I don’t even understand why the comparisons are made, Unreal Engine games have their own variance in performance per game despite all being Unreal Engine, why should Decima be different?

Well shit, just when things started getting good "Crash"....

Edit : Well, we've officially arrived in crash city. Can't play the game longer than 10 minutes...It's only crashing on cuts scenes..

Unplayable for me..Crashing every 10-15 minutes. Seems a lot of people having the same issue. It's a damn shame, I'm digging the game. I just don't get how anyone could have green lit this in its current state. The most half assed play testing/alpha testing would have revealed these issues.

Gonna wait for sale + fixes. This games uses the same engine as Death Stranding and that PC port was excellent.... Just saying

I had that with destiny 2 on my 7820X, eventually fixed it by underclocking my CPU, tons of people kept complaining about crashes on their forums, not that they seemed to read those.

Seeing some reviewers and "influencial" people are making a ruckus about this one there is a chance itt will acrually get fixed.

I had at least one crash on the hotfix drivers, so not completely fixed.

I've heard disabling any overlays can help, including the Steam overlay.

I suspect memory leak (among other issues), it can creep up to 23GB on my system over time.

Glad I'm not in a major hurry to play this one. Sounds like it wasn't quite baked but they wanted to finally get it out the door.
I figure it'll be in a better state in a couple weeks since the developers are acknowledging there are issues with it.
The fact that there's a resolution render slider makes me happy. I find that to be a much easier way to get the performance I want without having to performance test 20 different settings.

lol - It's like a throwback to the late 1990's early 2000's with some of those fixes "Expanding paging file".
Sadly, the lack of major DRM doesn't stop it from requiring MacGyver fixes via hex editing. QA/QC failed to verify that it's a fully working game before going gold.

I doubt it was a failure of QC, at least not entirely. QC likely found some/all of these issues and reported them but there wasn’t time/budget to get them fixed prior to release due to Sony setting a strict deadline.

My original thought was probably a broad stroke regarding QC. It just seems that a lot of the AAA game devs use the public as alpha/beta testing & QC anymore.

Without spoilers: i just left the starting area after doing some side quests. So about 3 hours in? Really enjoying the game. Combat isnt bad. I find myself just sneaking past machines as that seems a little repetitive already.

im on a vega64 so performace has been ok. No crashes. I just got a new 1440p ultrawide so im really enjoying that aspect. It complains about a driver version thats newerthan what i have but the amd app shows im current. Ill look into that later.

lots of cutscenes so far...im meh on those.

the world seems really cool.

There's an optional driver that supposedly gives a performance increase to horizon zero dawn and other games but I haven't had good luck with optional drivers, thus I stick the the stable release. I've enjoying the game also, the story is well written and I expect them to make it into a movie franchise. I would be fine with them making a novel series based on this game. Guess I need to google it now to see if there is one.

I grabbed it, but had to go out of town for a couple of days. I’ll report back on bugs/performance when I get back. I have a really clean machine, so I actually don’t anticipate problems. I usually don’t have any even when various boards blow up with “it’s broken!” posts.

I'm 45 hours into the game, about to hit the final main story mission (what, I like clearing every area before moving on) and haven't experienced a single crash.

However there are quite a few people in my discord that are also playing getting them all the time. Real shame.

Otherwise, this game is fantastic and looks incredible at 3440x1440. FPS isn't great (dips into 40s but 55ish average) but with a controller and GSync, I don't notice until I look at the OSD.

No real complaints here.

There's a 1.01 patch that supposedly fixes some of the crashing issues.

Heh i updated to the amd optional driver and it now crashes every 15-20 minutes. I guess ill roll back. Lol

I must already have the patch because it doesn't say there's any updates for me - game crashed while I was paused (actually it just straight-up closed with no error).

Overall it does feel a bit more stable, though.
