How exactly do I hook up my laptop to two external monitors? I have a Dell Precision M6400. Do I need some kind of splitter?
 
Depends. What kind of monitors? What kind of connections do the monitors have? HDMI? DVI?
I had that machine about 10 years ago and I used all kinds of display port adapters with it.
 
Depends as others have said, you need to list the ports your laptop has.

At work my crappy laptop has HDMI and VGA, however only one of them can be used at a time so I run one HDMI and the other with a USB3 to displayport adapter.
