I just Pre-Loaded the game from STEAM and it came in at a whopping 21 Gig Holy S%*@
Thats pretty damn big, i hope this game is good.

well shit this game fell off my radar. had no idea it was being released so soon...

lol, same

Bad time for other PC fame releases in the next two months.
BF3, Skyrim and Batman are my next three games.

Game looks well made as far as game play goes, but I have too large of a backlog to try it. Maybe someone will convince me otherwise after the game's release. If I hadn't bought Red Orchestra 2 aka "The Death Simulator" I might have gotten this one at launch.

Ya talk about Backlog, i cant wait for this game thou considering i want BF3 but if its anything like the Beta i might be not playing it very much. Rage is out this Tuesday i believe which is my early day at work so ill have lots of time to play.

on pc, the latest video in the canyon. The rock walls are by far the best thats ive ever seen.

not big news really they stated this long time ago game would be probably around >20gb.

About a week old, but some info on the size of the game for consoles. 22gigs installed for the 360.

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/25/rage-requires-3-discs-on-xbox-360-8gb-install-on-ps3-tolerance/

Rage will span three discs on Xbox 360 and require an 8GB install on PS3, id Software creative director Tim Willits has confirmed. It was rumored that Rage would have a large install and multiple discs on 360, but it seemed as if id was leaning toward a slim-and-trim two-disc set, stating that a separate multiplayer disc-swap would be "fail." id didn't have to pick a disc number for the PS3 version of Rage, effectively utilizing the Blu-ray drive to hold all of the game's 8 gigs, something that Willits seemed very pleased about:

"Sony was great," Willits said. "Kudos to Sony for letting us do that. They don't allow every game to do that. So definitely, hats off. What we were able to do is install all the textures to the highest level. What is nice about the PS3 platform is that it's just one platform. Everyone has one Blu-ray drive, one hard drive, it's all the same. Some of the other systems you have... should I install it on my 360? Should I not install it? So yes, it's very nice."

For 360 versions, Willits said id recommends installing the game to the hard drive, or if you don't have the space for all 22GB, after installing and finishing the first half of the game from disc one, uninstall it, and then install disc two. There isn't a reason to disc-swap after completing the first half, and "you don't really need to install the multiplayer disc if you're really tight on hard disk space," Willits said.

I was going to put RAGE on my SSD but after hearing about it taking up around 25GB of space I decided to move it to my WD Caviar Black 640GB drive instead

BF3 is a fail so far unless you are new.

RAGE is a fail too. Has too much of the border lands look to it imo. Seems to play much like border lands at least.

How did you get to play RAGE early and form a valid opinion? Oh right you didn't.

whatever, bf3 is only one map.
i really dont understand the gameplay of rage. maybe if they release a demo...

No demo, its very easy to understand. It's an apocolyptic game with a story line. People always have ragged ID for not having story lines in their games, now they do and they still rag on them. This game has more of a story line than doom, quake, and wolfenstein combined.

Hard to call BF3 a failure if you've played Caspian. That map is what the Battlefield series is all about.

Also silly to judge RAGE without trying it. I have a feeling it's going to get the Doom 3 treatment. D3 was a good game... not the best ever but not worth the angst it got. It getting sandwiched in between Far Cry and HL2 didn't help.

Anyone else unable to get the Steam pre-load going? The servers have been "too busy" all day.

D3 was a good game for most developers. For an ID Software game it was overwhelmingly disappointing.

My Brother is having a problem with Steam right now as well, I PreLoaded it last night while i was sleeping.

I have a large backlog myself but I have been waiting for RAGE to release for a little over 2 years now. Definitely one that I am looking forward to.

get ready for some glitchy, stuttering, frame molesting textures popping in and out of view, using less than 500mb of gpu memory on pc. I can see that trollface now, "sry we have 20gb of textures but they're only gonna load 1 at a time, even if your memory pool is bigger than a console hdd."

Hey buddy, why don't you stay the hell out of my threads if you don't like me or my threads?

This happens to be a "public" forum that you are creating threads in, so don't complain when people post. If you don't want people to post in a thread you make, go rent a server and make you own forum. We understand that you are butt hurt that not many people are as excited as you to play a consolized and over-hyped FPS game which brings nothing new to gaming.

looks like i won't be getting this game anytime soon unless a physical copy shows up at walmart.. 21 gigs for a game, there are better things to waste 21 gigs on.

My biggest concern is the difficulty level, consider how difficult FOVegas can be, yet this game seems very easy.

Yeah, think of all the porn.

Anyway, 21gb is pretty damn huge, I hope its actually because of quality and not just console port shitness. Remember that Force Unleashed also was around 20gb :p (I thought FU was a fun game, but it certainly wasn't 20gb because of its graphical quality).

Presumably they've included HD cutscenes/whatever.....also, 20gigs is nothing for PC's these days, HDD space is obscenely cheap compared to a few yrs ago.
But as I said before, Id need to deliver graphically on this one, otherwise I'll write them off as image quality is supposed to be RAGE's forte......that said, consider how bad, basic and downright dull Wolfenstien2009 was.

wolfenstien was raven

It's got Id on the back of the box...
W09 was a huge flop, and I loved that as they dumbed down the GFX to pander to consoletards but it backfired bigtime, GAGAGAGAAGAAA

There doesn't seem to be many video files in it. The contents of the video folder totals 283mb. The textures take up most of the space at around 17gb.

IIRC RAGE screenshots were shown before Borderlands was even released.

I'm gonna wait for the physical copy.

I wonder if the patches will be large aswell.

That's promising as I doubt they'd release a horrid looking 20 gig game:)
