Hey guys i have been looking out for a High End Display wich i wanna buy forward. I have searched for two diffrents that looks interesting Dell u3011 or this new monitor from Samsung SB970.

Both Monitor cost about the same.

My Questions is, wich will have the best picture and colour?? I heard the samsung have really High Color on this one.

Also heard some people have Problem with the u3011 because of the Anti Glare Problem.

Need Some Help or advice wich is Between IPS-PLS:)

Thanks!

Haven't had a chance to look at the samsung, tho with the dell. i own 2 U2711's and i can tell you i am loving it..the glare might be a trouble for some, its just a matte coating like how u get with laptops.

white would seem a little grainy, other colours are fine. Would be great if you could get to see it personally before dropping the money on it, or try searching it online im pretty sure there are pictures of it.

It's almost time for Dell's new models to come out. You should wait for the U2713 / U3013.

Alright. Yeah i searched for some review of this screen but could not find any good:)

Well if you're still talking about the u3011, this was lifted straight off its website:

2 High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
2 Digital Visual Interface connectors (DVI-D) with HDCP
1 DisplayPort (DP)
1 Video Graphics Array (VGA)
Component Connectors
1 USB 2.0 upstream port
4 USB 2.0 downstream ports
7 in 1 Media reader
DC power connector for Dell Soundbar

A number of years ago there was something fantastic invented. It's called google.

Yea man i know all of that stuff. The U3011 uses a very grainy matte coating, so say good bye to sharp text and hello to grainy and dulled whites+light colours. It also has poor contrast/black levels. Thats what i have been told for a few people here. But it looks like i stick with SB970 for now;)

I'm actually typing this on a 3011 and waiting to switch to the SB970. There's nothing wrong with the Dell as such, and I will probably miss the extra 3 inches, but gaming wise the response time of this monitor is awful, and the 970 is supposedly majorly better. However I've been using the Dell for a few years and have been very happy with it overall.

What is primary use of monitor?
Does 16:10 or 16:9 matter to you?
Does the 970 have DisplayPort?
Do you need HDMI 1.4 to drive 970 - and does your video card support it?

I much prefer 16:10 aspect ratio because of the work I do. Currently using 2 x Dell 2709 @ 16:10.

I RMAed my U3011, colors were washed out and text was unbearable to read due to the awful AG, its much worse than reflections. I would just hold out and get a U2713 or U3013.

1# Not really since i have 16:9 right now. But would be fun to try 16:10 Out
2:# Yea it has, But gonna use DVI.
3# No. And yea i have two GTX 590 so that should not be a problem.

Alright Thanks for you Idea. Coming from a Shitty TN pannel 120hz. And this is my first time i will buy a High IPS/PLS pannel wich cost a big amount theese days.
