The Hi-Def war is in full swing at CES 2007. Both the HD-DVD and Blu-ray camps are going all out explaining why their format is the one that will be victorious and the Hollywood Reporter has a complete breakdown of all the action.

Supporters of the two rival next-generation disc formats are slugging it out this week at the Consumer Electronics Show, with HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc predicting victory in the quest for a unified high-definition standard.

Odd that not once during all the blustering, did anyone mention the CONSUMER'S view of the format war.

Booo!

LOL!!! Good one! Beta-Ray and HD-Max!

I noticed that the Porn industry is now saying they like HD-DVD. Wonder what that's all about?

Not odd... the Hollywood Reporter is an industry mag, it's read by the very people they quote :)

Do not reward either DRM laden format with a purchase. We don't need a winner in this war.

I was under the impression they were supporting HD-DVD initially anyway?

At least that's what I've always been reading.

HD-DVD pr0n?

I don't know about you guys but I don't feel like seeing the wrinkles on some girls boob in high detail or the scars from her tummy tuck that they could hide from the blurry VHS and DVD. Thats just a big turnoff.

The format wars will come down to 1 thing, price. For movie playback, neither format has a huge advantage over the other. Early adopters, tech savvy and video gamers do not set the standard, the average Joe Consumer does. The average Joe Consumer isn’t going to pay $1000.00+ for a “fancy” DVD player when his $49.00 Wal-mart special works just fine. Furthermore, while one studio might favor a format over the other, neither will remain faithful when it comes to selling movies and making money; just ask Disney. The format war has just begun. My money is on the first one that releases a stand-alone player for $150.00 or less…

Naw it was Blu-Ray. Where does it say porn is now preferring HD DVD? Does it matter as much as back in the VHS days anyway? Before VHS how could you even get porn. Now you have dvd, internet (which is huge for porn) and possibly VHS still. I don't think porn is the deciding factor it may have been back then, when even that is disputed.

Its always been Blu-Ray. Vivid entertainment has stated they will be publishing titles on Blu-Ray, and they are the pron industry.

You see, porn has been very dependent on the standard 640x480 so as to not show any of the "female actress'" imperfections....SO....they use the medium that has less storage space, so that way they can compress the video data more in order to add some noise to the picture. In doing this, they still have high definition video, BUT there's some noise in the picture to drown out imperfections. It's all to save money on makeup artists, you know.;)

BTW I just made up every ounce of that, so take it for what you wish!:D

The porn industry probably backs HD DVD simply because it's the cheaper solution, not so much on the merits of either format.

Its always been Blu-Ray. Vivid entertainment has stated they will be publishing titties on Blu-Ray, and they are the pron industry.

Ever notice how titties and titles kind of looks the same on screen?

*fixed

+1 for Vivid
