This is the BSOD I get:

Stop: c00021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a
status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down

Anyone know what this means and how to fix. I have Googled and found no real answers.

Thanks,
Butch

What caused this?
Did you replace a hard drive?
What was the last thing you did before this happened?

I have no idea cause it is not my laptop. My friend said there was an overheating issue that wouldn't let the laptop boot.

I cleaned the lint and put some artic silver under the cooler and it boots fine but stops at that error.

Could the overheating caused XP to screw up and need a reinstall??

Not directly!
But, restart caused by overheating could cause the BIOS to reset.

Enter the BIOS and set the hard drive to be the first boot device and see if that let's you boot.
