Apologize if you're seeing a cross post from another forum. I can't find a good wireless networking forum and need to fix this problem asap.
I was so excited to get my new RT-N56U today which replaced 3 bridged WRT54G's. 5ghz performance is great (I think) when I'm right next to the router, internal lan transfer speeds at 5Ghz were 120Mb/sec and 48Mbs at 2.4ghz. Speedtest.net runs were approx 20Mbs and 16Mbs respectively.
The problem is when I go 1 level up on 2.4ghz, my speed goes down to 4-6Mb and it was formerly at around 10Mb (connected to main WRT54G). Worse yet, when I connect an iphone, ipad, or android, i'm topping out at around 2.5Mb! And finally...I go up to the 3rd floor, where I used to get around 6Mb I'm now getting 2Mb.
It seems as though I'm getting much better range on 5Ghz then I am at 2.4ghz, which shouldn't be the case. Is this thing configured wrong?
Does someone have a working config they can share?
Thanks!
