I accidentally copied another access points IOS to this AP a few months ago, but forgot that the radios were just disable and it went heywire. This happened because I forgot to disable my TFTP server or clear the TFTP-Root folder and now I'm in this mess. I finally got Cisco to help me with this device and they let me download an official IOS from their support tab after logging in with my Cisco ID, but after asking for help on there support forum nobody has responded yet. Can anyone help me on here. I've tried the following connected to a router and with crossover, but for some reason the tftp server cannot ping the AP and when trying to copy the file to the AP the connection times out because a connection can't be established:

Why are your TFTP commands pointing to mulitple TFTP server addresses?
I would skip using the router for the initial reflash. Attach the AP network port directly to your PC with a crossover ethernet cable. This way you only have 2 devices to deal with. Then initiate the AP to download the image from your PC TFTP server (open UDP port 69 on the PC firewall).

Do I need a default gateway if I connect with crossover, because the cisco lab manaul says I don't, but I can't find and guides that don't use a router or dhcp server.

I did this and it didn't help because the computer still can't ping the access point.

Here's what happened when I did it:
ap: set IP_ADDR 192.168.1.3
ap: set NETMASK 255.255.255.0
ap: tftp_init
ap: tar -xtract tftp://192.168.1.2/ap3g2-k9w8-tar.153-3.JE.tar flash:

Have you tried turning off Windows Firewall? Also, I am fairly certain you have to initialize ether first, then initialize tftp. So try

ap: set IP_ADDR 192.168.1.3
ap: set NETMASK 255.255.255.0
ap: ether_init
ap: tftp_init
ap: tar -xtract tftp://192.168.1.2/ap3g2-k9w8-tar.153-3.JE.tar flash:
ap: set BOOT flash:/ap3g2-k9w8-tar.153-3.JE/ap3g2-k9w8-tar.153-3.JE
ap: boot

edit-- Depending on your Bootstrap version, you might also have to do flash_init as well.
