Help me with a picture please (PS)

I have never used Photoshop before and am trying to grab my car from this pic I took and just paste it on a white background and make the pic have a thick black trim border around the white background.

It sounds like a simple Photoshop request but I can't even figure how I can grab just the entire care and paste on a white plain page for make a sig for a car forum.

Can someone tell me when I have the photo open in PS, what tool or what do I need to do to just grab the car itself from the back ground.

Poly-Lasso at about 500% zoom works best...at least for me anyway.
