just got a i3 530 and h55mud2h gigbyte board with corsair 1600 mhz xms 3 case 9
frio cooler from frys. 1 fan on low since the fans are loud.
so far 4.5 ghz 1.31v in bios , in windows reads 1.34, no vdroop at all orthose, 64c load
memory 1640 mhz case 9 1.65v , ram rated for 1.65v might not oc much more than 1600.
205x 22 = 4.5ghz
qpi link 2870 mhz clocked down a tad

not sure how to tweak for better performance.
focussed mainly on cpu so far.

==================
my question do i try to up cpu more or clock ram higher or qpi link higher ? or all the above ?
I just upgraded from core2 @ 4.2 ghz/p45 and this is my crash course in i3/i5 .

also running 560ti 950/2250
thermaltake 750 or 850 wat psu i forget.

4.5 ghz is a GREAT speed for that voltage for 24/7 for that i3.
Instead of wanting to get more, why not post some benchmarks? :)

Post up some Super Pi 1m, and 32M, and some 3dmark results :)

As for the vcore, I would't go above 1.35v for 24/7 use. On the other hand, 4.5GHz is a very nice OC for that chip!

turns out 4.4 is solid but 4.5 is not.. tweaking 4.4 volts and mem and such .. then moving on to higher glory.
should i try for highest qpilink or ??? does it really make a difference ?
testing 4.5 1.39v , kind of high i think 1.35 4.4 is beter for 24/7??

Upping QPI frequency does not affect performance much, so do not bother about that. And yes, 1.35v @ 4,4GHz is better than 1.39v @ 4.5GHz for 24/7, since 1.4v is said to be highest allowable voltage for your chip.

ok looks like 4444mhz and qpilink 4444 mhz is pretty solid at 1.376v load orthose
ram 1616mhz case 9, man i really thought i would get a way beter scores over my p45/c2d @ 4.2 ghz.
not as much as i thought..still i can upgrade to i5 later if i like now.now to sell my p45 and core 2 e8600..

you can go higher you have to start bumping VTT.

But yeah for 24/7 I'd stay under 1.35v
