cheapest i can find is $660, it's a bit much for what this server will be doing (which won't be much at all)

Well if it wont be doing much at all why not try linux? What features do you need from it?

How about you quit asking for help finding deals in the forum dedicated to POSTING deals?

Utilizing a TechNet Standard subscription is a good way to go & it's way cheaper to use for a year.

Do you have a corporation? You could try to go for MAPS subscription

IF it is just to test there is an eval version you can get from microsoft. I have been using that an awful lot lately in VMware. It expires after a while though.

If you have a verifiyable college email address check out dreamspark.com

SWEET, I never new about that site. It's sweet to be a student sometimes.

Edit: you set me up! :p My school isn't listed on that site so I either have to buy some student Id or go to my school and tell them to get added.

Edit2: nvm you didn't set me up. Firefox just doesn't display the school list correctly.

That site has a plethora of other free MS software for education purposes.

Note how i keep saying "educational purposes"

I view that as... Every time I login i learn something new, even if its in production ;)"
