Hi

I am gona buy a new monitor and i have some questions, so i am gona buy the best.

ASUS MG279Q or ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q ( both IPS)

ASUS MG279Q - Freesync (cheapest)
ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q - G sync (cost more)

I am using 2 x 970 gtx sli and im sticking with Nvidia, so yes in the future i might buy a bigger gtx card or 2 x Sli

What monitor should i buy ?
Is the G sync worth it ?

- There is something about the hz i dont understand and need to be explained.

Regarding Fps and hz, I heard that G sync cant play games in 144 hz because it locks the game around 40-90 hz or something like that ¿?
But freesync runs on 144 even if i cant use the freesync, but playing games over 100 hz then you cant see the screen tearing ?

Im confused here..i have been reading and seen to much info on these screens..

Please enlught me before black friday

Thx

hi, gsync is worth it. but be aware that gsync causes bad sli scaling. so if you are sticking with nvidia choose the gsync one and buy a strong singlecard in the future. i have a acer x34 with gsync and 2 1080s. i love gsync, and i tell you you will too, but the bad sli scaling makes me sick. i ordered a titan x pascal yesterday and sell my 2 1080s. if you wanna choose the mg279q then choose an ati card. best card for 27" 2560x1440 is gtx 1070 or 1080 (fury x for ati). Gsync and Freesync just syncs the HZ of the monitor to your current fps, so theres no tearing and feels smoother. vsync just syncs at max refreshrate of the monitor but it has terrible input lag. so gsync and freesync is way better. (gsync just has a bit greater operating range 30 to 165hz in this case) nothing else to say :)

So G sync dont locks up hz or somethimng..i must have heard wrong about something.
Also a 1070 cost like 600+ $ where i live in Denmark and 1080 over 700 $

Get a 24" 1440P Dell with Gsync from Amazon =) for 399.00
I can't stand my 27" Swift

For a gaming only monitor, running an Nvidia GPU, spend the extra on a screen with Gsync. It's worth it.

I don't know where you head that it limited FPS - it doesn't. Heck, there are even screens out that are "overclockable" to 200hz, and I just read about a screen coming out rated for up to 240hz.

If you're sold on a 27inch IPS with Gsync, also look at the price of the Acer XB271HU. (Careful though Acer is silly has a 1440p/144hz and a 4k/60hz screen using very similar names.) It's the same panel as the Asus and might save you a few kroner.
